Montgomery Ward Go Getter. Nice, there is a lot to like in that name! Anyway, I ordered the battery from batterycentralmall.com. It is a classic look on a modern AGM battery. I’ll update when it arrives in 4 weeks or so. Who knows, I may get lucky & hit on a production run rather than having to wait.

Hey thanks. That’s great. I thought it was kind of weird looking for trim and when I put it up to the console it struck me that might be what’s going on. Just finished repairing cracks and reinforcing some areas of the plastic as one side got pretty beat up. Off for carpet in a couple of days
My trim’s not bad shape, some scratches but clean…[Read more]

Yes, the carpet will tuck into the aluminum side trim. That trim is anodized but anodize is a very hard material. You can get aggressive with it if you have to. I have had it bad enough that I had to use 0000 steel wool on it. I even had to do that to a set of NOS grills. I am actually not sure if polishing it will really help much other than…[Read more]

Lots of consoles here so I know you all can enlighten me. Reinstalling the console with new carpet- no old carpet to go by.
1. Console trim-looks like side trim is extruded alum with a bright anodized finish is some sort. I’m thinking just clean and wax with no polishing compound for fear of removing the bright finish.

SMS and ACC supply 2 completely different carpet sets. SMS two piece cut and sewn, but not very similar to the orig jetfire carpet I show in a pror post., ACC is fully molded. Yep, darkest ACC red/maroon isnt right but close and looks good and mine is no show car. Don’t know how much SMS is as I have not been able to get hold of them, no answer t…[Read more]

I am wanting some feed back here on the TRF tank red ‘button’. I am fortunate enough to have a really nice button however I do know these are basically NOT available anymore and they sometimes go missing when the cap ‘pops’. It is all the cool unique touches that make our Jetfires special and this is one of them. I have been investigating getting…[Read more]

Following this conversation. Wondering the same. My car had a replacement Montgomery Ward battery from likely the early 80’s. I love the look of it and have even wondered about if anyone can somehow use that case on a new battery. I have not even cleaned it up but I love the name and look!

Thanks again for all your replies.
I am awaiting some samples from ACC however from what I am hearing their Maroon is not correct either. The Maroon I got from SMS last fall is quite a bit lighter in color than mine and my door carpet is in perfect condition so I really want it to match. SMS’s trunk mat is the right pattern but it is quite a…[Read more] -

Hi All – where have you recently purchased a modern but classic appearing battery for a 1963 Cutlass Convertible? In my evening review I’ve found only batterycentralmall.com. It’s a Delco Group SG22D according to their website. Has anyone had experience with them? Looks like a good battery, but pricy. Suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Turns out seat floor mounting for the buckets are really different in the Jetfire, and other hardtops I guess, than the convertibles. It will require a conversion. Not a straight swap.

So with further inspection looks like the original carpets are a “cut and sewn” product with maybe molding on the rear piece for the driveline hump.
Checked the new carpet set That came from SMS for another car here and I was in error saying it was molded and ACC. That info was from speaking with SMS. But it is not molded. The rear piece has…[Read more]

Eric, I will take the rear end.
Wow this car is early, and Lansing. Does X-T-2M correlate to power brakes I wonder? Anything that has to do with the body would be on the tag, and power brakes require punched holes.
The inspection marks are interesting. Must be a Lansing thing.
Cool find and useful parts too. - Load More
