You’ll still notice a difference even though they looked good they are still 60 year old rubber. 61 to 63 diff Don’t know.
Thats why I’d like to replace my front mounts. They look okay but you know new rubber would be better.

Also, QuietRide in Stockton calif sell a variety of precut kits of sound deadening and heat shielding products for these cars. Both invisible under carpet stuff, doors, and and visible like trunk and hood insulation.
They had several F85 models to make templates from. I used their PVC firewall insulation piece and it fit great.
I had no…[Read more]

ACC is the manufacturer and their carpet is sold by Resellers at about 1/2 the price that ACC sells for. For example: ACC sells the 63 Jetfire carpet at $351 and Stock Interiors sells the very same carpet made by ACC, shipped from ACC, in an ACC box for $183. Same options, material, color choice. OC is a little cheaper still I think.
Like a lot…[Read more]

I have not found a good carpet set for these cars yet that I am happy with. I no longer even try. I only restore the original carpet. If it is not completely rotten then clean it really well. I even pressure wash them and keep it in the sun to dry for a few days. When it is really clean just use SEM fabric paint on it. It takes nearly a full can…[Read more]

I know where the choke tube goes. This tube in question still seems to be a mystery. There was no mention of this in the manual.

So I am restoring a 1963 F85 Jetfire with 4 on the floor. There is NO carpet made for this car and the automatic hump is much smaller so that carpet will not squeeze on from what I have been told. PLUS the red they offer is a bright red and our carpet is a Maroon or dark red.
In 64 they offer carpeting for a 4 speed in Maroon. The 64 is a…[Read more] -

All that fuss and you hardly see the stencil job! It is the cool little things that make this car unique though!
Looks immaculate under that hood from what we see! Can we see more photos of your engine bay? -

Well then: How did we miss that! That would be an easy fix for my daughter too. DANG!
Perfection is a difficult thing to chase! Hubby beside me just commented – A blind man on a fast horse . . . . . he is obviously not as fussy as I am. -

Does anyone know what the difference is between the control arms for the 63 verses the 61 and 62? The parts book shows a different part number for the 61-2 verses the 63.

With shipping I am well over $400 for all the bushings for the rear end. I guess there is no other option? Now I regret removing my old ones. They were not bad other than a little surface cracks in the rubber. After I got them out, the inside rubber was great. Wish I would not have sold the set of Buick arms I had. They were really nice and no dry…[Read more]

Pulled the suspension back off the Jetfire and have the shell on the lift. I decided to weigh the shell. I did not pull the doors off or the trunk lid off but I did weigh a door from a parts car that was gutted just like the ones on the car. I did not have a trunk lid to weigh but did weigh a 61 Buick lid. I am guessing they are really close to…[Read more]

62 Cutlass Convert replied to the topic Larger front sway bar? in the forum Discussion Topics – Ask the Experts 5 years, 10 months ago
Gotta be careful with sway bars. Too much on one end or the other can radically upset your over/under steer condition. Too big a bar can all of a sudden mean you go into too much oversteer up front and promote rear end break away in a corner when you least expect it. Or vice versa. Go into a corner hot, turn in and here comes the rear end…[Read more]

Just installed the stenciled Turbo Rocket Fluid filter. The green nut for the bracket is original paint.
