One of my OCD’s is to not have a single bug of any kind after a restoration. I want to turn the key and go for a drive in a new car. Well, Electric switches are one of the things I have to rebuild because I don’t want a problem from old internal dried out grease. The old grease in them make them not turn or “click” into each notch like they did…[Read more]

Like I said I have known this car since it was one year old. Now I am suppose to believe that someone drilled all those holes down the side to put on all that chrome and not bother with doing the hood when it was less than a year old. It had its original paint when I strip it in high school in the mid 70’s. So you can understand why I am never…[Read more]

Mine has all the normal side trim. All mine was missing was the hood spear. It has all the other chrome. I’ve never seen one look that bear before.

D&D (aluminumV8.com) has it all except for some reason he told me cam bearings weren’t available when I bought a complete rebuild kit from him 2-3 years ago. He said to use the orig cam bearings which I didn’t like at all.
My machine shop had no problems and got the cam bearings.
TA Performance may have them as well. TA has some oil pump parts…[Read more] -

AADCO. THE BRACKET PLATES ARE NOT GOOD. I HAVE A POST IN HERE SOMEWHERE ABOUT MY INSTALLATION AND CUSTOM BRACKET. DO A GOOGLE SEARCH FOR IT SINCE THE FORUM SEARCH FUNCTION IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE ON THE SITE.
I SHARED THE BERACKET REDISIGN WITH AADCO SO YOU CAN CHECK WITH THEM BUT IF THEY ARE STILL OFFERING THE SQUARE PLATES THEY HANG IN THE AIR.…[Read more]

This 62 f85 cutlass has a rod knock, we have not dis assembled yet, does anyone know who sells rod, mains, cam bearings for this motor. Also this vehicle had a nearly complete turbo in trunk that we would sell, sure it needs overhaul. Vintage Vince (service@orindaclassiccarcenter.com)

Yeah, every one-of-none car has a “special order” story…
The F-85 convertible did not have the Cutlass emblems nor did it have the stainless “spear” down the side. This photo is an F-85 convertible. Note the small chrome piece at the front of the front fender as the only side trim. This car also has a bench seat. My friend Scott also has an…[Read more]

The car has been in my family since it was a year old. It has never been wrecked. I think it was special ordered from the factory.

And THIS is why you never want to rent your old car out for movie or TV use. When I lived in SoCal, I knew a number of people who did this. It rarely ended well.

The 1962 Chassis Service Manual tells you exactly what you have. Series 3067 is an F85 Sports Convertible. Series 3167 would be a Cutlass Convertible. It’s entirely possible that at some time in the last SIXTY years, someone replaced the front sheet metal (likely due to an accident) and the fenders they got were from a Cutlass.

I checked the I.D tag and it is a 62-3067 number. I find it hard to believe that someone put the emblems on it before 1963. The local millionaire bought it new and traded it in within a year. I guess the car dealer could have put them on for a better sale price. But I bet there are others like mine with the Cutlass emblems on it with the 62-3067…[Read more]
