The transmission is done. The shifter parts were zinc plated and is only loosely mounted. I am waiting on more parts for it and going to have to have a new shaft made for it.

Not likely anyone here is using an exhaust gas vacuum in your garage but I found this interesting. At one time I was trying to spin a turbo with a vacuum cleaner and it sucked lots of oil into the turbine housing so I know it can happen.

Heads are done, should get engine block back tomorrow. Then I can put everything back together. All under hood items has been rebuilt, replated, and repainted.

A local place has wanted me to try them for zinc plating for a long time. I decided to try them on this project and most everything turned out really good. There are a couple pieces I am going to take back to them in my next batch of parts but overall everything will work as it is.

This is what it looked like this morning when I took it out of the tub. Will still have to bead blast it but will be much easier to do now that the tight crusty stuff all come off. It is beside the back section of the same shaft for comparison. Also, this is what the tub looked like when I took it out.

I pulled the two halves of the drive shaft apart today. I found the original stripe still visible. I was not sure this was the original drive shaft but now I want to believe it is. If it was a replacement, it would not have had a paint stripe. The stripe is on the front section and the back section is what is different than most Jetfire cars so…[Read more]

I had a couple people ask for me to put them down on my list while at Homecoming and I sure can’t find that note for who they were. If you had me set one aside for you then let me know.

It looks like California Classic Clutch is out of business or changed names/ownership through a Google search. If you can find a phone number or other info I will surely follow up. Thanks, Fred

We have been out of town and I just got this message. I appreciate it very much. If you find the info, I sure would appreciate it. This is the information I was hoping for ! Trying to piece together parts for something this old is sure challenging and the parts are apparently becoming “priceless” 🙁 . Thanks again, Fred

“This is the line in question if the pic loaded”
Any chance of a photo that’s in focus and zoomed out a little so we can see what’s going on?

“Joe you’re right, the carb choke of that type pulls vacuum. Your description is correct.
However, the exhaust manifold isn’t pulling or have vacuum, the carb is pulling vacuum. The exhaust manifold tube simply provides heated air for the carb vacuum.”I thought that’s what I said. The tube in the hot air stove simply passes through the man…[Read more]

The choke tube is in place. This is another line that runs in the back of the engine bay behind the pass. side head and into the exhaust manifold.

For some reason I can’t post in the original post, the system keeps kicking me out after I log in.
The road draft tube is an engine breather and comes from the passenger valve cover (sometimes the intake or other places on cars) on these cars I believe. It accesses and expels crankcase fumes. There is a air intake on the drivers side valve cover…[Read more]
