I think most are at least cracked, if not having pieces broken ofF. We have 3 cars an all are either cracked or broken to some degree. They are really brittle at this point. If only cracked you should be able to repair from insidE.

Hi Jim
I’m new to the forum and to the olds family. I have recently acquired a 1963 jetfire and want to have the engine rebuilt. I have a guy for that but need someone to do the turbo, carb and injection system on it and understand your the guy. I have a shop in Sonora Ca. And we do restorations but think this is out of my realm of work so I…[Read more] -

Found a bad rear axle seal on my 62 wagon. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the “toggle bolt”-style seal pullers. I was about ready to head over to Harbor Freight when I spotted a defunct Olds 455 exhaust valve. A little sculpting of the head with a cutoff tool and a welded-on bolt to fit my slide hammer and the seal is out.

I do believe that this was only an option for 1963’s. The door switches for the dome lite were only put in 3100 series cars also. The 3000 series cars turned on the dome light with the rheostat on the headlight switch only. The 1962 and 1963 convertibles also had rear seat courtesy lights. My memory is getting fuzzy, someone might have different answers.

Can the webmaster weigh in on this.
Am I doing something wrong in the search field at the top right of the page?I can’t seem to search for a subject in the forum and get a response. It takes me to articles or unrelated items.
Thanks

I have been talking to Ken and he has made a business contact that can make our much needed foot flange gaskets. He has passed this information on to me and I am planning to have some made. The tooling is the expensive part and has to be factored into the price of each gasket. To help fund it I wanted to see if anyone wanted to pre-order any. No…[Read more]
The switch is an accessory for the courtesy lights.
Thanks, Jim. Was that 1963-only? I don’t see courtesy lights on the 1962 options list.

That little red light to the left of that light switch is a parking brake light. Good to have as it is lit when the parking brake is on. My last 63 had both of those options.

No mention of engine or trans?
The switch is an accessory for the courtesy lights. The interior lights, under the dash, can be turned on/off with the door closed. -

Car appears to be pretty solid. Nice find. What’s the on-off knob to the left of the heater control panel?

I was just sent this link. I hope it is good enough to restore. Looks like it is an A/C car.
