Thanks Joe. Just looked in on forum and see you replied. Based on the info noted here, once this leak gets to me and moves to the front of projects list I’ll pull the eng/trans to fix it.
That’s the wagon you bought up here in Santa Cruz Mtns at Luke’s isn’t it?

Thanks everyone. Yeah work involved to do it in car was more involved than i had hoped.
Normally, yes leads to other work on eng but this is a new engine so its a “simple” job of doing the gasket.
Pisses me off it leaks, especially cause i had a shop build the engine. They’ll happily replace it if i bring the eng back!Talk is pulling eng, i ass…[Read more]

I have a weeping pan gasket. Has anyone removed the pan with eng/trans in the car?
Looks like it may come out if i remove the center link and raise the eng a little?
Thanks.

Should be no problem with the heater core. Problem is the heater valve.
Sorry to say Fusick uses rubber for the diaphragm. I talked to Terry in the back who does their valve rebuilds. Everyone i checked with uses rubber. According to Terry and the Evans guy Dexcool and other modern antifreezes with Similar corrosion Resistance chemicals also…[Read more]

Not quite sure from your description what the fit is like. My vent window fits tight in mine but the rubber is a little high against the door skin. I think mine were stelle rubber but not sure, 2-3 years ago, Convert
Metro might make them too. I’ve used some of their stuff, good tech service too.,

Hi Joe,
I saw an old post of yours that you adapted a valve from Napa to replace your orig.
That’s probably my best option.
Do you have a picture of the install and possible a part number?
Thanks

I am on my 4th heater valve rebuild by Old Air. Looked at my history on rebuilds and I’m getting 6-10 months out of a valve and it starts to leak at the diaphragm. VERY unhappy.
I am using Evans waterless antifreeze which has worked out well and has good characteristics for alum…
In talking with the Evans tech on the problem he said they may…[Read more]

We should have a permanent tech section for this type of info.

Nice. What is that 2 2bbls?

62cutlassconvert replied to the topic intake manifold in the forum Discussion Topics – Ask the Experts 3 years, 10 months ago
Stock manifold. I used an Edelbrock 1403, elec choke, 500cfm. There is a manual choke version.
No adapter plate needed, bolts up.
I did use an insulator under it to isolate it from the intake manifold heat.Your stock air cleaner won’t fit, it’s for old form 4bbls and too small for the new std size Edelbrock.
Several ways to go but what I did…[Read more] -

Hey thanks. That’s great. I thought it was kind of weird looking for trim and when I put it up to the console it struck me that might be what’s going on. Just finished repairing cracks and reinforcing some areas of the plastic as one side got pretty beat up. Off for carpet in a couple of days
My trim’s not bad shape, some scratches but clean…[Read more]

Lots of consoles here so I know you all can enlighten me. Reinstalling the console with new carpet- no old carpet to go by.
1. Console trim-looks like side trim is extruded alum with a bright anodized finish is some sort. I’m thinking just clean and wax with no polishing compound for fear of removing the bright finish.

SMS and ACC supply 2 completely different carpet sets. SMS two piece cut and sewn, but not very similar to the orig jetfire carpet I show in a pror post., ACC is fully molded. Yep, darkest ACC red/maroon isnt right but close and looks good and mine is no show car. Don’t know how much SMS is as I have not been able to get hold of them, no answer t…[Read more]

Turns out seat floor mounting for the buckets are really different in the Jetfire, and other hardtops I guess, than the convertibles. It will require a conversion. Not a straight swap.

So with further inspection looks like the original carpets are a “cut and sewn” product with maybe molding on the rear piece for the driveline hump.
Checked the new carpet set That came from SMS for another car here and I was in error saying it was molded and ACC. That info was from speaking with SMS. But it is not molded. The rear piece has…[Read more]
