I was restoring my mother’s’ 62 convertible in high school, in the late 70’s & 80’s. I also was tearing apart a running Jetfire ( minus the turbo) to put the neat body and trim parts on the convertible. I swapped the interior, hood, steering wheel and column, and console. The hood is the only outside part I swapped. I do not like the wide…[Read more]

Back when I use to search for parts on auction sites. I would run across a set of post cards of cars of the world or something like that. And in that set of artist paintings of cars of the time was a convertible 62 Jetfire. I saw that set for sale numerous times.

You must be looking at the wrong one. Like I said search 62 f-85 on that site and it’s a red convertible, second row from the bottom.

I was checking online for 62 f-85’s and came across this thing. It’s on topclassiccarsforsale.com. Just search 62 f-85. They call it a Cutlass, but they really did a job on it. It’s hard to tell if they cut a top off a Jetfire or just swapped everything over on a Cutlass. The top looks like it has problems. I would like to see what you experts…[Read more]

O.K. I see, and I can believe it is possible that someone like the dealer put the Cutlass emblems on my car for a better sale. That car on ebay has the fancy steering wheel, back up lights, and a clock. Also you see how the oldsmobile is spelled with individual letters across the back. I wonder if that is a F-85 only thing, or do some Cutlass have…[Read more]

Like I said I have known this car since it was one year old. Now I am suppose to believe that someone drilled all those holes down the side to put on all that chrome and not bother with doing the hood when it was less than a year old. It had its original paint when I strip it in high school in the mid 70’s. So you can understand why I am never…[Read more]

Mine has all the normal side trim. All mine was missing was the hood spear. It has all the other chrome. I’ve never seen one look that bear before.

The car has been in my family since it was a year old. It has never been wrecked. I think it was special ordered from the factory.

I checked the I.D tag and it is a 62-3067 number. I find it hard to believe that someone put the emblems on it before 1963. The local millionaire bought it new and traded it in within a year. I guess the car dealer could have put them on for a better sale price. But I bet there are others like mine with the Cutlass emblems on it with the 62-3067…[Read more]

Don’t worry in the late 70’s my mother bought a 62 Jetfire without the turbo on it. So I was restoring the rusted out convertible at the time and figured it would be a good idea to strip the Jetfire of its neat interior and hood for my convertible and scrap the rest of it. After all if the top goes down the price goes up, right? Well that didn’t…[Read more]

I have a 1962 Cutlass convertible and the only thing that makes my car a Cutlass is the two front finder badges. Everything else suggest it is a basic f-85. It has a bench seat, ugly plan steering wheel, a f-85 badge on the dash, column sifter, huge tall air cleaner, a plan hood ( no spear), it also has separate letters spelling oldsmobile across…[Read more]

My zipper came apart on mine, so I know to never unzip a back window again. It’s not worth it.
