Jim, I can’t help on the mirror but do have a question about them. I never noticed till yesterday but I do not have one on our 4 speed car. You mention “GM Accessory” does that mean it was an option? I can see no signs where it ever had one on it but thought all cars had a driver side mirror?

Took it for another drive this morning. Went 2 miles round trip. Still no brakes so did not get off my road. It shifts through all 4 gears real good. No brakes but it drives. After this I drove it one mile. Where I live we have no traffic and you can see a car coming for a mile. I did pass a car but seen them coming and just pulled over till they passed. Tricky with no brakes. I will likely start working on them soon.

I did not know they made a glass pack that short.

It looks good in the video but I have not washed it yet. I am taking it to the MCACN show in the barn find and hidden gem section. If I wash it, it would disqualify it. Thanks for the link. I guess I don’t know if the 62 is suppose to have them or just the 63. I looked up the one I seen it on and it was a 63. I bet this cap I found is also a 63. Can anyone confirm if the 62 had it?

It’s alive again. I have to work on the fuel line from the tank, for temporary I just hooked a fuel hose from the pump to a fuel can. Runs much better with the lifters not stuck. Lots quieter also. I need to replace the crossover pipe also. It is rusted through in several places.

Talking to a guy from the MCACN show and told him about this engine I got from Ken. He asked if I could bring it to display with the car. I had just put together a junk turbo system for a display but not going to take it now because I will take this. I have it mounted to a roll around cart so should be easy to load and unload.

I am sure it is worth more than this to someone but if you just want to get rid of it I would take it for $35 shipped. I only need the jug with the decal. You could dump out the contents if you wanted to save shipping cost. USPS would be cheep for as light as it would be empty.

Intake manifold is junk. I found some deep pitting inside the water port along an intake runner. I knew that area would have to be thin as deep as the pitting was. I used a 90 degree little poker and poked around from inside the intake runner and it poked right through to the water port. I have another one I can use but it is not a great one. I…[Read more]

Here are some pictures of the bad spots of the aluminum intake manifold. I think I can get it to work good enough till I do the full rebuild on the engine.

I have one more lifter rebuilt but the other one for sure is not rebuildable. I got it freed up but after getting it apart, the inside bore of the lifter has to much corrosion to trust it. I will go ahead and buy one lifter for that lobe.
