I picked this 1962 Jetfire about 3 weeks ago now. Bought it from a repair shop where someone left it. It’s been sitting since 1997. Body looked in ok shape but the motor was frozen.
I got it home and started to work on the motor. I pulled all the plugs and filled the cylinders with oil while I keep working on other parts.
The seats are in ok but the carpet was crappy. So I ripped it out and found some rust under the drivers floor. (Heater core was leaking)
I got the motor to turn over and spin very easy. So I dug deeper and found a broken rocker arm shaft on the drivers side. After lots of looking I called D&D and had them ship me two new re-finished shafts. Mark was a great help. While waiting I cleaned the carb and put new plugs in.
Got the parts from D&D installed everything and she fired up for the first time in 20 years.
So now you are al caught up with my little story about the car.
Hoping this weekend I will finish the brake and drive her around the block.
Will update photos thread with more photos soon.
Welcome aboard! We had seen that Jetfire for sale in California and I am glad some one bought it. It looks real good in the photos. Are you planning to put a Turbo back on it? I am near San Diego and I have a 63 but I used to have a 62.
I don’t know if I will put the turbo back on. Would like to have it more as a driver and i don’t want to really mess with it. If the motor is still pretty strong I will upgrade the trans to a 200r4.
I want the Fatman front end but I need to sell my old race truck first.
