ParticipantWell I was lucky enough to run across a 62 Jetfire survivor. Beautiful car with turbo intact.

ParticipantThis car actually came out of a barn. I have always heard of barn finds but was never lucky enough to find one. This car was actually bought by another gentleman who bought it in a package deal with a Polara. He posted this car on fb and I saw it. I own a 63 Skylark so I was familiar with the 215. I didnt know what a Jetfire was but was intrigued by the pics. I went to see the car and bought it on the spot. The story was the owner was sick and sold both cars to help pay for a surgery. The engine was removed and rebuilt due to smoking. I have all the parts to put it back together except radiator and air cleaner. I will send turbo to be rebuilt. The paint and interior is superb for a survivor. The under carriage was undercoated which probably saved the car. There is 1 rust spot behind passenger rear wheel. I plan to have car done by summer if all goes well. Whats the value of these cars as a nice survivor? How many 62s on the road with turbos?

ParticipantHi Chris,
Yes, this Jetfire is quite unusual! Sheffield Mist & black vinyl top. Automatic trans, A/C, power brakes, steering and windows. Has a remote mirror (not available until ’63) a clock and radio.13″ wheels, WSW tires, and full hub caps. All the big options for 1962 on one car! I first saw pics of this car in 2011 but didn’t know about all the options. However, it has stayed in my mind since then because it is a twin to my Jetfire conv’t! Let’s get the turbo intake system restored and put a very unique turborocket back on the road! Great barn find!!Attachments:

ParticipantVery nice! Looking forward to seeing updates along the way. My silver interior on my 62 looked a little worse than that and cleaned up fantastic. If you look at page 8 on this thread, It will explain how I did nine. Whatever you do, don’t toss the carpet. You can clean it and redye it and still look great. In my thread I used Goop hand cleaner on all the seats and door panels. Sounds strange I know, It is messy and works wonders.

ParticipantLooks like they installed the heads on opposite sides. It don’t hurt anything but the head with the numbers was on the passenger side when new.
It is probably a good thing I did not see this car for sale, lol. I sure don’t need another one but love that color.Would you mind posting a picture of the cowl tag?
