Yes. Breather cap. Don’t know why I said PCV. Interesting about the brush on paint. Aerosol clearly did not work at all. Looked great, peeled like a banana shortly after application. Yeah, looks great and performing terrific. The custom ground cam from Crower was a good idea. Thanks, Jim.

There’s a pic of my car (at Rockville, MD) in the site 62 pics a few years back with the OEM 15’s I got from Bruce Sweeter that I run with Diamondback red lines. I run the aftermarket ones in the winter and spring usually – they handle a little better and I don’t have to worry about chips, leftover salt, whatever. I’ll put the 15’s on for the…[Read more]

What he said. Outperforms the first gen Delco, obviously.

Scott Philliips in VA. Joe P and I live near one another and belong to the Capitol City Rockets Olds club. The pictures on the site of my car are pretty old. I should send some updated ones. I’ve got the Sports Convertible with the Jetfire engine. Attached are a couple of pics. I’ll call sometime. I am definitely planning on going to the…[Read more]

No. But I did switch over to a rebuilt Delco alternator (which they began using on the ’63’s) and much better performance than the generator. I’d never go back. Plus that generator weighs a ton and getting it on and back into position is a bitch :).

This is a kickass post, Eric. Just read through it this morning. I’ve been off this site for a while – I get super busy and time slips away – but just had a 2nd rebuild on my engine, though this one was more of an overhaul. My internal sound turned out to valve guides – it sounds like a sewing machine now. I’ll post some pictures soon. Gotta…[Read more]

The repros I have are both spring clip. They came from, I think, USA Parts Supply in Kearneysville, WV, or come to think of it I might have gotten them from Antique Auto Battery when I got the Delco retro look battery. I’m not a big fan of the negative cable as it’s too long for what’s needed. If you find a better option, let us know. That…[Read more]

Yeah, I run the 215’s, but they are on 15 inch OEM wheels. And zero issues.

Joe, as usual, is correct. Completely rebuilt front end on mine and you get that, it seems. At least I do.

USA Parts Supply in Kearneysville, WV is also a source. They mainly focus on 64 and up Cutlass/442, but have many hard parts for 61-63’s as well. http://www.usapartssupply.com/
They have an online catalog you can look at. Somewhat pricey like Kanter, but a good resource. -

I had the chrome escutcheons (I think I’m using the right word there, it’s the chrome piece that sits behind the lights, wipers, ignition, and lighter switches) rechromed recently (well, the wipers and ignition, anyway, if anyone has tips on removing the lights and lighter pieces, I’ll take them). Inside these things is painted like a gray/silver…[Read more]

I am definitely concerned about the correct, two toned look, so I’ll have to have them made, it looks like. However, OPG is offering the bucket seat foam, so at least there’s that.

Okay, Looked at OPGI site and they offer the bucket and rear seat foam for 62’s and the seat upholstery for the ’63’s. Thanks for pointing that out. So…are the 62 and 63 bucket and rear seats the same dimensions? Would they fit? It seems to me if they list them as ’63’s then they probably don’t.

I’ve got a set of buckets from a 62 Jetfire (light blue with dark blue accent) that I want to get recovered, and will likely do the back seat to match. Is there a company that sells repro seat covers and foam, or do I have to source the materials from SMS and have them made?
