I saw that car go across the block earlier today. Not only was the turbo missing, the engine had been replaced with a Buick 215. The seat upholstery is incorrect and it had weird plaid carpeting. The body looked good….at least in pictures.

Very Cool! Exterior colors look like they match your automatic car. And it looks very complete and unmolested too. And it has the original shifter.
Congratulations!

Helge,
You would have to have get a custom exhaust system fabricated by a competent shop in your area. The performance aftermarket in the USA does not make systems for your car. You will probably have ground clearance problems with a true dual exhaust system. Another alternative for you is to purchase an original equipment reproduction exhaust…[Read more] -

macf85 started the topic Drive Shaft Center Bearing and Support in the forum Discussion Topics – Ask the Experts 11 years, 2 months ago
If anyone needs a source for the drive shaft center bearing and the hard to find rubber support that goes around it I found one. The rubber support is a newly manufactured part with fresh rubber. These parts fit the 1963 models and the 2nd type on the 1962 models. I don’t believe it fits the station wagons. I just received mine in the mail and…[Read more]

I used Fusick’s #AF150S red air cleaner paint and it was a very close match to my original. A bit expensive at $19.50 for a spray can but it’s the closest I’ve found out of all the spray bombs available.

For pictures:
Click on the Car Pictures tab at the top of the page. Under 1962 Car Pictures click on slickclyde_1962_1c for a 4-speed console with a tachometer. Under 1963 Car Pictures click on booster_1963_1c for a 4-speed console with a turbo gauge. -

Sorry the pic wouldn’t attach. When I figure out what I’m doing wrong I’ll try again.

macf85 replied to the topic 4 speed console in the forum Discussion Topics – Ask the Experts 11 years, 4 months ago
These parts are rare. The tachometer is even more rare. The Cutlass 4-speed “console” came with a tach. The Jetfire 4-speed “console” came with the turbocharger gauge which shows power and economy. Here is a pic of a 1963 Cutlass 4-speed console but it has a tachometer from a 1964 Cutlass. The face on the ’64 is a bit different than the ’62 & ’63.

Now that’s a clever towing setup / front end support! Good luck with the make over.

macf85 replied to the topic Jetfire Heater Hoses in the forum Discussion Topics – Ask the Experts 11 years, 7 months ago
Thanks Jim. The “S” shaped hose looks the same as my Cutlass’s hose that goes to the intake manifold. I assume it is the same. The other hose must be specific to the Jetfire.
Have you been driving the red Jetfire you acquired a while back?

Get the alternator bracket for a 1963 model. GM switched to alternators on all their cars in 1963.

I put Wheel Vintiques “Chrome Hot Rod Rallye wheels on my ’63. Not sure about what offset they are. They are 14″ x 6” with P215/70R14 BF Goodrich Radial T/A’s in back and P195/70R14 in front. The slightly taller and wider rear tires give the car a slight rake. See photo. There is about a finger’s width between the tire and the wheel opening…[Read more]

Attached is an exploded diagram of the driveshaft assembly including the CV joint. The slip yoke has a ball cast onto the end of it that rides in a spring loaded split seat. If you have a lot of slop in your CV joint these parts are probably shot. Occasionally N.O.S. CV Joint repair kits show up on ebay or in Hemmings and other sources. This…[Read more]

They should fit and are the same dimensions but they won’t have the correct pattern. The appearance for the ’63’s is as shown on OPGI’s website and you know what the ’62’s look like. Also, the ’63’s are single color, not two-tone. I you’re concerned about the correct look for a 1962 then this is not a good option.

The factory service manual does not list the camshaft specs. You might want to talk to Mark LaGrou at D&D Fabrications. They are 215 V8 specialists with a full service machine shop. Their phone number is 810-798-2491 Mon-Fri 8:00 – 5:00 eastern time. aluminumv8.com
