I have not seen a 63 with insulation cut out for the TRF tank cap, only on 62. Funny thing is that the factory masking on my hood for the insulation glue left that area clear of glue.
Jim, the extra cut out I am talking about is about 1” wide and 10” long to the right side of the large cut out, increasing its size. Look at the photo of my ori…[Read more] -

The small cutout in the front of the hood insulator is to allow clearance for the Turbo Rocket Fluid tank cap. This should be cutout on all 1962 and 1963 Jetfire’s.

The core is very likely bad like they are saying. Be sure they have the ability to use your old top and bottom rails as well as the original tanks. Some radiator shops can’t do this. My radiator shop can order cores without the rails and reuse the originals. On the one I just had done for my 4 speed car they sent the rails to the core manufacturer…[Read more]

the problem with the rad core is that the lines will all be semi blocked. These cars have a tendency to run hot. You need all the advantages you can get to keep it cool in slower traffic where natural ‘forward movement’ air flow is not there. Get the core done!
Don’t know about the hood liner: post what you find out please!!! -

I bought new hood insulation from Fusick and used the punch outs to match my original pad. It has the small extra cut out next to the air cleaner (right of the large cut out opening), is this 63 only?

My original radiator core has this tag on it and the numbers match the 63 assembly manual. I need to have it rebuilt and put the original side tanks back on it. The radiator shop told me I needed a new core, but this one looks fine.

The 63 assembly manual says the manifolds, manifold to turbo and at least the top half of the pipe leaving the turbo are all aluminum. I don’t really have a document that says the 62 is the same way but I believe it was. Both of my pipes still had some aluminum paint left on them so I would think it was the same.

hey Eric, are 63’s also supposed to be aluminum color?

Blasted the manifolds and painted them with POR-15 exhaust manifold paint. I used this on our automatic car but used the manifold gray color. It has held up very well so decided to use it again. Just this time in aluminum color. When I done her car I didn’t know they were supposed to be aluminum color. I prefer the cast color myself. I am not a…[Read more]

Got my radiator and heater core back yesterday. I had them order the core without top and bottom rails so we could use the originals with the holes. I always have them do this but usually they have extra solder at the ends of the rails when I get them back. I told him this was going on a high end restoration so he decided to send the rails off to…[Read more]

Super excited today. I got my brake line back from The Right Stuff! Joseph Padavano had mentioned before that the 62 Jetfire had a different brake line from the Cutlass for the front right corner to avoid the turbo exhaust down pipe. I never knew this and decided to investigate. The one on my Jetfire 4 speed car was not any good and the end was…[Read more]
