I have a 62 F85 Cutlass Convertible. It sat for 40 years on the susp in storage and I will be replacing springs and shocks. I have never had the car on the road and don’t really know where it rides on standard springs . The only spring offered by anyone is the standard springs with no HD option other than the rear station wagon springs which are 237Rate vs the other models at 160Rate. Fronts are the same for all models. No Moog available but Eaton Detroit Spring has a them at $250 and Fusick at $160. Eaton can also supply a 1″ lowered spring which will have a stiffer rating/lower deflection/lower center of gravity for vehicle/less lean/better handling. Putting 205×60 or 65 x 15s on it.

Question is, any preference for Eaton vs. Fusick for the money? And anyone know if the car can handle a 1″ drop and still align.

The tire size appears to clear but may be an issue with lowered springs and I’ll be looking at that also.

Any thoughts on these issues are appreciated.

clearance when lowering its not an issue. My 63 rolls as smooth as butter. I would be surprised to hear if you were to run into any issues whatsoever lowering your car. Oh and an alignment shop could assure you the same.

Thanks for the info. So did you lower it with shorter springs and how much did you lower? Also, what size tire are you running?

    Happy new year

Mine were cut already when I bought my car. By how much I do not know. I found a guy on the HAMB who built a 62 drop. He may best awnser any questions you may have. Here’s the link. http://www.hubgarage.com/mygarage/mhendersondesigns/vehicles/7638

Thanks for the link. Who would think you could cram tires that big up there, especially with a drop like that. I ordered some Eaton Detroit Spring 1″ drop springs. Gonna check it out and if I want to I’ll either exchange or cut for another 1″. I think the 205x65x15 tires will work on 15×6 Wheel Vintique Smoothie rims and I’ll put disc brakes up front.
