I bought one new in Oct. 1962 and it had the silver turbo. I have owned two others since that also had silver turbos. I have two now but I don’t know what came on them originally, although I have reason to believe one of them came with a red turbo.

I think it looks pretty good Eric. I’m going to try it on my door panel as well. My car will pretty much be a daily driver, local shows, so it probably will be fine.

The 62 color selector for the 62 Jetfire also calls out Medium Gray carpet for Trim 971. I think I still have the carpet I took out of one of my Jetfires. It was originally gray and turned brown just as yours did. If it would help I can send a piece of that carpet to you as well as a piece of the new gray carpet I bought from Pony Parts. Just thinking you might take them to the paint store, maybe they would let you spray some paint on the old carpet and check the color.

The car had the original red,or what I would call maroon, interior. I prefer the silver interior and if it had it I would found a way to keep the car. So it looks like it wasn’t your car. On the other hand, it did have what looked like a sprayed on vinyl looking black roof covering. As a matter of fact, one of the fake seams was loose on the left front . I haven’t happened to see another one with the sprayed on roof. Was it something that was commonly done? There weren’t many 4 speed 62 jetfires and I’m surprised that there might have been two red ones with that roof treatment.

I have a couple of red 62 jetfires, one with a white vinyl roof, that I am working on when time and money permits. Hopefully the time and money lasts until at least one of them is done. You said you have another jetfire. Would you tell us about that?

I owned this car for a few years. A friend of mine in Junction City, Kansas bought the car at an estate auction in the late 80’s and a year or so later offered to sell it to me. It was a 4 speed car and at the time it had a 4 barrel carb on it. When we picked it up we drove on to the Omaha Nationals and I had it parked in the parking lot at the hotel. and there was a lot of interest in it. I kept it for a few years, drove it a little and then needed money and sold it to a guy in Arkansas. Years later I’m sure I saw it sold on ebay. Lost track of it until I saw the picture of the car in the cars without owners section on this website. Appeared to be located in Montana. It took 2 or 3 years but I finally found the owners name and phone number, thanks to a friend on this website. It turns out that the car was destroyed in a forest fire that swept through their area, I believe in 2012. I had hoped to buy it back but it wasn’t to be.

I talked to Pony Parts Plus and finally ordered a molded carpet from them for my 62 Jetfire. It was actually listed for a 62 2 door sedan but was told it would fit. For $160. I took a chance. I haven’t installed it yet but laid it in roughly and it looks like it will fit. I bought extra material in case I decide to install my 4 speed. I haven’t found a carpet for the 62 4 speed Jetfire but I think I can make this one work with the extra material

For a carpet kit you might try Pony Parts Plus, 1 800 242 2314, They make kits for 4 door sedans, don’t know if they fit a wagon. I bought a molded kit for my jetfire, haven’t installed it yet but laid it in and seems to fit pretty well.

Bruce, If you still need a transfer tube I’m pretty sure I have one on my parts car. I’ll check as soon as the snowstorm we have at this moment finally ends.

I’ve wondered if the 63 carpet set might fit the 62. Probably not much difference. Maybe someone on here might have the answer.

I called these people a couple days ago and was told that they didn’t make the carpet sets for the 62. Did you have to get past the first answer to get your information.
