Latest update : after installing a 4 speed Tranny and it working smoothly, I also swapped out the old Rochester Carb for a MSD Fuel Injected Carburetor – starts right up without pumping the gas pedal every time – I no longer deal with rough starting after the engine has been warmed due to fuel evaporation in the float chamber……..F.I. Carb is fantastic!! Thanks to the fellas at Custom Classics, who installed it; they hid all components and even trimmed out the bottom half of the air filter canister so it fits snuggly onto the new carb – pop open the hood and you would never tell theres a F.I system. I also had the old generator swapped out for a Power master alternator…….still used the factory mount. Finally I upgraded for a “hidden” audio-sound system, using Focal Speakers and Alpine amplifier along with two ported 12″ subwoofers hidden in the convertible compartment. two way component speakers installed in the kick panels….had to sacrifice the kick panel vents. Amplifier was placed underneath the passenger seat. The install was done by Showtime Audio in Chicago. We opted to go with a hidden bluetooth device as its source operated through my cell phone. We used the cigarette lighter and repurposed it as volume control knob, pure genius!!!!……again, with the exception of the kick panel speakers…..you’d never know. The clarity and power of sound is amazing!!!!
