jensenracing77Participanti was wondering what the normal temps are on a Jetfire? mine will stay at 190 if i run 40 MPH or less, if i am over that it will go to 200 to 210 area. just wondering if this is normal? it is also over 90 outside so i know that don’t help. after the sun goes down it didn’t get over 200. it never blew any antifreeze out at any time.

jensenracing77Participanti may have answered my own question. the 63 wire diagram shows that the original water temp switch closes at 240 degrees. maybe 210 is not so bad. i sure don’t want it anywhere near 240, i don’t like to see 220 myself.

bkturboxParticipantCooling is a major problem with Jetfires. I have two and found the real “culprit” in both was the copper core radiator which does not like working with an aluminum block and the accompanying electrolisis that comes with it! Dissassembling the cores from both vehicles disclosed that a good third of the core was completely blocked with what appears to be aluminum oxide (product of electrolysis). Replace your radiator with an aluminum unit and wave the cooling problems goodbye.

62oldsf85ParticipantMine runs at 180-190 typically in summer, if it has to sit in traffic on a 95+ degree day (I live in VA) with heavy humidity, when I shut it down it will occasionally creep up to 210 at the most. I have had my original radiator and heater core recored.

jensenracing77Participanti have fixed some issues and now mine is running 190 on 90 degree days. i have some minor bugs i have worked out after the rebuild and it is doing much better.
