Don’t know if anyone has seen this. I found the article about this 61 Cutlass. It is beautiful inside and out.

Thanks Joe. The machine shop thinks that’s the way to go too. Think I’ll go that way as well.
My rocker assembly is up to get a new shaft and rocker and checked out.The rebuilder up in Northern Calif, I’ve heard he’s the guy everyone goes to including D&D, is going to come out with a stronger shaft option. Not available yet but will be after…[Read more]

I used a Helicoil in one of the head bolt holes on the first 215 I built decades ago. Timeserts didn’t exist then. No issues at all.

So one and possibly 2 of the head bolt holes in the block that also hold down the rocker arm assembly are stripped out. Engine is fully assembled in the car. Head, valve train, and intake are removed. The hole that is completely stripped previously had a crack and the crack on the valley side that was welded up when the engine was rebuilt about…[Read more]

I appreciate it.
Yes, it has Fel-Pro now. I am only doing the one side. Yeah I have been looking and have come up with similar cost on an eng set but thought I could buy just one for $15-$20. You can for the Buick eng but not the Olds.
Here’s what I have found since the stripped bolt.
The stripped bolt allowed that journal to lift. In lifting it…[Read more] -

Does it have Felpro gaskets now? Are you doing both sides or just one? The entire gasket set is not all that much. I think it is around $85 for the set. I do have a set of Fep-Pro head gaskets I can let go of but I will want $45 and shipping for the pair. You would not be that far off from just getting the entire set from the local auto zone

I have a stripped head bolt on the passenger side head, one of the ones that hold down the rocker assy, so I need to pull the head and put a hellicoil in.
That means I need a head gasket and all I can find are complete engine sets. Don’t need all the extra and don’t want to spend for it.Anyone have a source for/or a spare Fel-Pro head gasket…[Read more]

I Think the color is likely the same. This picture is not very good for mine. I found a nearly mint used one for my car a few years ago. I have another one that is nearly as good that may find its way to Melissa’s car.

That is what I felt but I have heard of several people needing these in the past. I never needed one so was not sure if there was something people have found that work or not. Felix just posted on Facebook that a TH400 transmission dipstick grommet works good. I will skip this project since there is an alternative

We have had a super productive 2 weeks. Yesterday we got the turbo on. No one told us that bolting on the turbo/getting at some of those bolts would nearly cause a divorce as well as trying to figure out where everything connected to. The factory must have had some special tools or hired people based on how small their hands were. We survived…[Read more]

I see yours is kind of green. Mine is beige/grey.
I would think that you should be able to get a rubber grommet to do the job: even if you had to do some altering. There are also those grommet plugs that have a solid top for ‘plugging a hole’ that you could cut to suit the pipe. Obviously due to the angle of the pipe entering this factory…[Read more] -

What are people doing for the oil return grommet for the turbo on the Jetfire? Is there a good replacement that anyone has found that works? I thought about getting an estimate to have these reproduced but not sure there is enough demand for it or if there is a “good enough” replacement that people are using. The price would depend on how much the…[Read more]
