kgfiskeParticipantIt is indeed unique to the 3147 Jetfires. Here is the image from the service manual.

kgfiskeParticipantIt’s certainly not a pressure regulator, As mentioned, I suspect it possibly supresses spikes in fuel pressure, much like an expansion tank in your home water plumbing.

kgfiskeParticipantI am certain it is OEM. If you look at figure 8-177 part C on page 544 (section 8-154) in the original 1963 Oldsmobile Service manual, you will see it illustrated.

kgfiskeParticipantI used an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold with an Edelbrock 1403 ‘performer’ 4 bbl carb. A nice combination. The Edelbrock intake manifolds are still available. Probably the only reason why is because the 215s were used for years on the Landrovers.

kgfiskeParticipantI contacted Hal at Classic Preservation. We identified what I need and have a kit on order. Thanks for the suggestion!
I do have a question. What is the function of the bulb shaped device that is plumbed into the inlet side of the fuel pump? Is it some sort of fuel surge chamber? I have attached a pic of it.

kgfiskeParticipantThe fuel pump I have works fine, but is off the car right now, so I figure it’s time for a little preventative maintenance on a 57 year old item. 🙂
