Hello everyone. I was wondering if ALL the ’63 F-85 Jetfires were equipped with the turbo setup, or was a non-turbo version available? I’ve heard that some owners were unhappy with the turbo performance (!) and had them removed.
    Thank you!

The VIN is 631, which says it’s an F-85 Deluxe. Apparently the Jetfire VIN should be 636?

All Jetfires came from the factory with a turbo. Many were replaced with a 4bbl setup when problems arose.

631 is also for Jetfire. 636 is Starfire full size car. Later, Olds made a Jetstar and Jetstar II.
So Jet, Star, Fire, were all used in different orders at one time or another.
The engine in later F85s and Cutlass was called Jetfire on the air cleaner just to confuse things more.

There’s some confusion in these posts.

For 1962 and 63, Olds offered the F85, F85 Deluxe, Cutlass, and Jetfire in the Y-body line and the Dynamic 88, Super 88, and Starfire in the B-body line.

For 1964, Olds offered the F85, F85 Deluxe, Cutlass, and 442 in the A-body line and the Jetstar 88, Dynamic 88, Super 88, Jetstar I, and Starfire in the B-body line.

The 1964 nomenclature has been confusing since the Jetstar 88 was a low-rent model with the 330 motor and small brakes, whereas the Jetstar I was a high-end model slotted just below the Starfire. And to confuse the issue even more, the naturally aspirated 330 used in the Jetstar 88 was called the “Jetfire” engine.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate your help.
I’m trying to find out what happened to the engine.

Do you have a Jetfire or looking at one? If you are looking for a Jetfire engine to put in a car with a missing engine there are some out there. I have a 62 Jetfire engine in Indiana available.

Thanks Jensen. I have a ’63 that’s missing the engine. I may know where some parts to it are, but will probably be listing it for sale here soon.
    Thank you, though!

I am shocked to read about ’63 Jetfire is not turbo. Engineers should launch this car in Turbo.
