Lots of consoles here so I know you all can enlighten me. Reinstalling the console with new carpet- no old carpet to go by.

    1. Console trim-looks like side trim is extruded alum with a bright anodized finish is some sort. I’m thinking just clean and wax with no polishing compound for fear of removing the bright finish.
    -Is that right or??

2 . I was thinking the carpet went under the console But in looking at the trim it looks like it ticks up into the trim and doesn’t go under console or over hump. Thereby not having to notch it around the console brackets.
    -is that right??

    Thanks

Yes, the carpet will tuck into the aluminum side trim. That trim is anodized but anodize is a very hard material. You can get aggressive with it if you have to. I have had it bad enough that I had to use 0000 steel wool on it. I even had to do that to a set of NOS grills. I am actually not sure if polishing it will really help much other than maybe sealing it to keep moisture from getting under it and turning it cloudy.

Hey thanks. That’s great. I thought it was kind of weird looking for trim and when I put it up to the console it struck me that might be what’s going on. Just finished repairing cracks and reinforcing some areas of the plastic as one side got pretty beat up. Off for carpet in a couple of days

My trim’s not bad shape, some scratches but cleaned up ok with windex. Couple coats of carnuba and it looks ok. Good to know the finish is that robust.

    Thanks again
