    Hello,

Back in 1967 my grandfather gave my father a 1962 Jetfire. Unfortunately, that car caught on fire and ever since he’s wanted to own another. Last year my Dad was able to track down and purchase a 62 Jetfire, but it needs some work. I don’t have any background in car restoration, and I was wondering if someone would be able to point me in the right direction. My Dad would want to do the restoration himself, but if there are books, original design specs, etc. that would be helpful with this particular restoration I’d like to get that for him. Any information provided would be appreciated. Thank you

Hi, Lots of people here that can give you good advice. Books-start with factory service manual for the F85 1961, get the 1962 supplement which includes the F85 and other Olds models, and get the 1962 Jetfire supplement. All are available on line from various sources at reasonable prices-shop around. I got an original 1961 factory service manual, I believe the originals are better than the repros on pics and diagrams.

    Have fun.

Can you tell us more about the car and maybe post pictures? Does it still have the turbo setup or was it converted to a 4bbl?

Thanks for responding so quickly. I don’t have a lot of details on the car, but I have some pictures. I’ll try to get more specifics

Forgot to mention, as I was reminded in another post, get a “Revised” edition of the 1961 service manual. It has some early updates at the back.
