1962oldsguyMemberHello,
I have since left the field of 1962 Oldsmobile F85’s but I still like to check in on them. What I see here is a problem with SMS Aupholstrey. I have to samples of carpet that I was mailed.. got them two days after I requested! Talk about fast. I ordered carpet for my 1963 Oldsmobile Starfire Coupe. It was perfect! Other then the floor mats are not available since they would be incredibly hard to make (They have chrome and patterns in them). Since I have decided not to restore my Coupe and the carpet is just sitting there for now. It is very original, colorful, new, and smells REALLY nice! I had a great experience with these guys! Maybe its cause I am only 4 hours drive from them or something..
I believe that everyone deserves seconds chances.. While given a return policy as well. Haha..
Have a great evening everyone
(I attached a picture of my Convertible, beaughtiful isn’t it)

1962oldsguyMemberThe exhaust manifolds will interchange between Olds and Buick. The only difference is how they mount on the block. You will need a turbo intake to change over from the 4 brl which is stock on all Buick Specials and Skylark’s.
The turbo-engines are worth a LOT if you rebuild it right, keep it original, and do not put it in the wrong car. (Good in: Oldsmobile Jetfire from 61′-63′.. Bad in: MG’s, Rover’s, Buick’s, Pontiac’s, Oldsmobile F 85 and Cutlass Models.)
The turbo in the condition of needing to be rebuil is not worth much more then $750., but if it works and is complete (Bolt in and drive) could range from $1250-$1750. depending on condition of course.
I think it would be best to transfer the turbo onto an Oldsmobile 215 since the heads bolt on differently, same with the valve covers, and sometimes an F 85 will have a 2 brl carb and intake.
I do have a 1962 Oldsmobile F 85 215 in an unknown condition. Of course it will need to be changed over to a turbo intake, turbo exhaust manifolds and all the turbo related parts.
Just my opinion. But it is always your car, unless you wish to sell it. So build it for yourself!

1962oldsguyMemberHello,
I am not sure.. possible it was bent? Maybe the door was pushed down a while ago.. Also look at where the hinges are mounted on the door and body, possibly you could adjust them to raise the door a little. Not sure if you mentioned you had a service manual for the door? I could send the measurements if you would like. About the door lock. That only made my doors loose since they would move around but still stay shut.
I would try adjusting them up to see if it is maybe that someone had taken them off and put them on wrong.
If you would like I can send pictures of my doors and hinges. Or you could send me some at demammothman@live.com so I can maybe see your problem?
Did anyone ever have the doors off this car for a long time? Because the frame and body could’ve gotten bent which might cause the doors to not shut properly.
Please advise.
Thank-you

1962oldsguyMemberHello,
I had a couple problems with my convertible to after I removed the door lock mechanism that mounts to the body of the car, aparently there is a small weld on that piece and it does not come out of the car (easily at least). If you knock the lock around or tap the piece with the weld it will break loose and move around, not properly lining up. Also make sure if you have a service manual to check the measurements of space needed to seperate the bottom of the body from the bottom of the door. Also your hinges may have been put on lower then needed. Make sure they are not damaged or bent.
I do have some doors and parts for sale if you need replacement parts.
Thank-you

1962oldsguyMemberHere is a couple links to access pictures of my 1962 Oldsmobile F 85 Cutlass Convertible restoration.
Only sad thing is I think my project may come to a major holt since I am looking at purchasing a 1963 Starfire Convertible this weekend, also I still have my coupe Starfire which is pretty much ready to be put together 🙂

1962oldsguyMemberHello,
I do believe Ken (kid442) is right about the interchange, one thing you might look out for is the 1961-1963 Oldsmobile F 85/Jetfire models have a small round circle for the push button. And various other full size Oldsmobile’s from 63 have the same style but a different oval shaped push button. If anybody is in need of any let me know I may have an extra pair or two.
Thank-you

1962oldsguyMemberThank you very much for the reply!
I have my oldsmobile on a professionally made rotisserie that a friend welded together for us. This way going under the car is much safer. I have all the parts disassembled since I am doing a unibody off restoration.
I have a 1 1/2 garage space but all my parts are organized into totes and stored.
Thank you
Dalton
