Hi Joe
I have located a bracket and they say there is a different bracket for AC vs. non-AC cars. Can’t seem to get a good format on the picture they sent so I can attach it but it shows a somewhat different bracket that is boxier than the ebay bracket with no second strut. The bracket is formed with a large arm reaching up to the exhaust…[Read more] -

WOW! That is crazy money. Thanks for the news Joe. Think I’ll just keep an eye out, not in a hurry.

I like a couple of local FM stations that I play both at home and in the car and I don’t want to mess with a phone or remote while I’m driving so the AM/FM conversion makes sense for me. The USB input conversion option on these radios takes it a step further and you can control the MP3 player functions from the radio head volume…[Read more]

Good to hear. Going with my orig generator for now but I would be interested in picking one up for future possibilities.
Does anyone have a 63 alternator bracket they would like to part with?
Thanks

Hi Mike,
Did you get the Aux input for whatever device-MP#, tape, IPOD, etc with volume only from the radio or did you go for the USB input which allows you to control flashdrive/USB devices from the radio itself?
PS: thanks for the loan of the wheels.
Thanks

Anyone else done this and what do you think?
I’ll be having my original Cutlass AM radio converted over to AM/FM, 4 speaker outputs at 40w ea, with a sub out cable, and aux input done by Aurora dealer- Turnswitch.com. They will also do a conversion to full Bluetooth and MP3 device control if you want to go that far. They are really nice to…[Read more]

Joe,
Does the 63 have a two piece bracket like the 62 gen brackets and if so do you need both pieces of the 63 to convert to an alternator? -

Good going. Yeah, that’s really tight in there.

Sounds nice. What’s the cost? A std alternator conversion is cheap but you do need to change the bracket. Powermaster makes an alternator that looks and fits like a stock generator but they go for $400+.

That’s what I was looking for. Why did I never notice that, guess I just don’t scroll down that far. Thanks very much, works great.

Well, to me it sounds like you need a new gas cap. Gas will expand and contract with heat and your cap should keep it in the tank. A properly working vented cap should not allow the gas to escape. You should be able to get a new vented cap that fits at the local auto parts store.

So I ended up getting a nice billet alum air cleaner riser with an “O” ring from Summit for $18.00. It’s a 2″ riser that fits the 5.125″ Edelbrock carb. The stock air cleaner bottom outlet fits inside the riser with the O ring against the air cleaner. With the shorter Edelbrock carb and the air cleaner outlet fitting down inside the riser it…[Read more]

I think you’re right. I tried to buy a replacement for the stock element already. The air cleaners I have use a 11 1/4 diam filter, or something close to that, which bumps up against an air deflector inside the top. One is the AC filter spec’d on the decal on the air cleaner snorkle, another is a Napa. They crossed the Napa to a WIX and now it’s a…[Read more]

Thanks Joe. Both good ideas.
Have a couple of original air cleaners, both in good shape and hate to hack one up. I’ll keep an eye out for a trashed one with a decent base. Guess any 15″ base with no drop would do.
Great idea about the new smaller diameter base under the bigger stock top. Hadn’t thought of that. New bottoms are cheap, I”m going…[Read more]

I am using an Edelbrock 1403 carb on my new eng and want to use the original air cleaner assemblly. The Edelbrock carb needs a 5.125″ hole in the aircleaner base and the stock air cleaner hole is way too small. Looked for adapters but haven’t found any that go from a large carb to smaller aircleaner and can’t find a replacement base with the…[Read more]

Got it. Similar reason to why I’m looking at other options too I guess. Was hoping it wasn’t fit/quality of Waldron’s.

Thanks Joe, looks like a good solution. I have an additional problem with ground clearance since we are putting a TH 200 in and have modified the original rear mount which has resulted in lowering it. Haven’t done ground clearance checks yet but may need to fab a custom trans rear mount that gets back up tight to the floor to allow adequate…[Read more]
