I was restoring my mother’s’ 62 convertible in high school, in the late 70’s & 80’s. I also was tearing apart a running Jetfire ( minus the turbo) to put the neat body and trim parts on the convertible. I swapped the interior, hood, steering wheel and column, and console. The hood is the only outside part I swapped. I do not like the wide trim on the side of the Jetfire. My mother’s car had sat in the junk yard with the top down for seven years. The floors were gone and it had a dent and rust in every panel. So I replaced the floors and used about 50 lbs. of bondo on the body. I might have had you beat for the first Jetfire convertible, if I had swapped everything over. The shell of the Jetfire is setting in the woods on property I don’t own. The grill is the only part left I should go get. I still have the title for it. looking back now, it was a bad idea to tear it apart. I know they did not make a 62 convertible Jetfire. I also believe the cards I saw were made in the 60’s. I’ll let you know if I find another set. Thanks for everyone’s replies.

Back when I use to search for parts on auction sites. I would run across a set of post cards of cars of the world or something like that. And in that set of artist paintings of cars of the time was a convertible 62 Jetfire. I saw that set for sale numerous times.

You must be looking at the wrong one. Like I said search 62 f-85 on that site and it’s a red convertible, second row from the bottom.

O.K. I see, and I can believe it is possible that someone like the dealer put the Cutlass emblems on my car for a better sale. That car on ebay has the fancy steering wheel, back up lights, and a clock. Also you see how the oldsmobile is spelled with individual letters across the back. I wonder if that is a F-85 only thing, or do some Cutlass have it that way also?

Like I said I have known this car since it was one year old. Now I am suppose to believe that someone drilled all those holes down the side to put on all that chrome and not bother with doing the hood when it was less than a year old. It had its original paint when I strip it in high school in the mid 70’s. So you can understand why I am never going to believe someone did that to it.

Mine has all the normal side trim. All mine was missing was the hood spear. It has all the other chrome. I’ve never seen one look that bear before.

The car has been in my family since it was a year old. It has never been wrecked. I think it was special ordered from the factory.

I checked the I.D tag and it is a 62-3067 number. I find it hard to believe that someone put the emblems on it before 1963. The local millionaire bought it new and traded it in within a year. I guess the car dealer could have put them on for a better sale price. But I bet there are others like mine with the Cutlass emblems on it with the 62-3067 number. I’m pretty sure I saw a hard top in the junk yard with f-85 on the dash and Cutlass on the finders once years ago.

Don’t worry in the late 70’s my mother bought a 62 Jetfire without the turbo on it. So I was restoring the rusted out convertible at the time and figured it would be a good idea to strip the Jetfire of its neat interior and hood for my convertible and scrap the rest of it. After all if the top goes down the price goes up, right? Well that didn’t work out as planed. So now I have convertible with a neat Jetfire hood and console, that has replaced floors and 10 ponds of bondo throughout the body. I parked it in 1986 do to low oil pressure after rebuilding the motor twice, I drove it and constantly work on it for almost 10 years. It still setting in my carport with a cover on it. I don’t want to sale it yet, since I went to kindergarten in it. I love these cars but they really have a lot of problems. Before the internet all you had was Hemmings to find parts.

My zipper came apart on mine, so I know to never unzip a back window again. It’s not worth it.
