I believe it had to be done at Fisher. All the clutch linkage mounting holes and firewall would be the same between 3 and 4 speed but going buy the IBM code, both have there own code on the Fisher cowl tag. The only difference in the body between the two is the floor hump. If Oldsmobile was doing it I do not believe it would have been on the cowl tag.

Does anyone have a picture of the cowl tag for the $50K Mecum car? I took several pictures of that car and I can’t believe I did not take any of the cowl tag.

2M is not A/C because the 63 we sold had M2 on the tag and was not an A/C car

I would like to find the GM document where they got the IBM code information. They had to get it from somewhere. I would just like to add that to the collection of information I have for our 4 speed car.
I did not make it to the GM Heritage center last Fall like we had planned. Work was just to crazy for me to get away. I am planning to go the…[Read more]

[quote quote=13595]Jim, my 62 had air conditioning and no stamps at all in the ACC line.
But a/c could be dealer installed and no way to tell. The assembly line manual outlines the installation, but it would take a lot of work at the dealer to install it.[/quote]
I did not see this when I ask about your cowl tag Disregard my earlier question…

That is awesome! I was absolutely sure this car had never been apart and converted but I had no document to prove it was a factory installed 4 speed. Now I don’t need a document, it is on the cowl tag! Thank you for posting that link!

I believe number per plant would make since. Maybe the 98th Lansing built Jetfire? All three of my cars are Lansing built.
Our original paint automatic cars is 5th week of May and is 869
The 4 speed car is 4th week of June and is 1997With 1997 in late June in Lansing then the other plants would have had to build the majority of the others to…[Read more]

How do you decipher the ACC codes? Two of our 62 Jetfire have nothing there and the other does. I looked in the production documents under the ACC and nothing even comes close to matching what is on my tag.
Also, Does the body number correlate to the actual number of 3147 car made or 3117 made and so on… If so, my parts car is Jetfire number…[Read more]

Ryan Brutt is the guy that documented this car as a “barn find” or garage find… He has a series of Muscle Car Barn Finds books and he just sent me a copy of his newest book. It has our 62 4 speed car in it!

So sad and devastating. I talked to him and he has decided to rebuild and continue the hobby. They have a long road ahead. He said he would like to be back up and running by next winter. I am unsure where this project stands for me but I hope to get it in early after he is going again. Will just have to wait and see. I am going to at least order a…[Read more]

Radiator date codes
While finding the petcock and outlet difference above, I found the location of the radiator date codes. I figured they had a date code but never looked till now. The date code location is also different for 63 than what is on the 62 but not to far away from each other. It is located on the driver side tank and on the back…[Read more]

62-63 radiator differences….
I have a radiator from a 62 and one from a 63 and noticed that the two years are not the same. The 62 radiator has the petcock on the front driver side and the 63 has it on the passenger back side. This has made the radiator outlet neck a little higher on the 63 style radiator.

I believe I have seen that picture before but never really looked at the side moldings. It is for sure different. Before I just thought it was the insert for the back at the shifter location that was different. I bet you are right about the 3 speed floor.

Just ran across this document. It shows the 3 speed console was an entirely different one. It is shorter than the automatic console. I am wondering if this document is correct. Need to dig out the 63 assembly manual and look in there. I thought only the front plate for the shifter hole was different.

I would like to find a 62 Jetfire grill emblem if anyone has one available. Any condition considered but NOS would be GREAT! Would like to also find an NOS set of grills.
The wide bottom emblem in this picture is what I would like to find.

Glad to see more press on them. I will have a copy of it in our Jetfire when I ask about them hosting the Jetfire for the Homecoming. They may want to open it to the entire 61-63 F-85, lineup with the Jetfire. I think that would be cool also.

I am undecided on my front suspension anyway. They all take grease but you can tell that it only comes out in a spot or two and I am sure it is not getting everywhere it should. I am thinking about changing the front cross member and suspension anyway. The front suspension is pitted really bad in this car. Even thought it is still nice and tight…[Read more]

I am being told this morning that his Motor Home that he stores in there caught fire. I don’t believe he touched it since Fall. By the time they seen smoke coming from the shop it was to late. I have not talked to him but my fire department buddies are saying this. His Motor Home I believe was nearly new. I will know much better information when I…[Read more]

I am going to be at an event in May that will also have some of the Homecoming planning people there. I am going to talk to them about it but I would bet with as unique as the Jetfire model is they would want to do this. Just hope they don’t have something already for the 2020 show.
I am told that the JWO this month has a good article about the…[Read more]
