Super excited today. I got my brake line back from The Right Stuff! Joseph Padavano had mentioned before that the 62 Jetfire had a different brake line from the Cutlass for the front right corner to avoid the turbo exhaust down pipe. I never knew this and decided to investigate. The one on my Jetfire 4 speed car was not any good and the end was…[Read more]

Has rust but looks like enough there that it should be restored. Power windows, brakes, and steering. Needs major restoration but at least the price is right. $3500.

Thank you! I sure enjoy do it and maybe even more than driving them after it is done. One thing we are excited about after it is done is we plan to haul it down to the Smoky Mountains and drive all around the mountains in it. That will not be till 2021 though. We done this in the 70 442 W-30 I built and was a great time.

I got my chrome back Friday. I got home and found that the bumpers are going to have to go back. They are really smooth but the centers are cloudy. I called him this morning and sent him some pictures. He said that it was a major screw up on his part and knows how it got out like that. He said he will take full responsibility for it and fix them.…[Read more]

Looks like you have an A/C car! Does it have any other options? Under the A/C line that runs in front of the cowl tag should be another code. It will have ACC and then could have something after that. Can you see if there is something there. Finding that aluminum bezel is difficult to do and usually not cheap when you do. I have an extra for one…[Read more]

Thanks for the pictures. All 4 of the Jetfire that were exported were built in Lansing so it could be one of those 4 but no way to really confirm that. I see it has power steering also. Do you know of any other options it has?

I have watched those videos before. I even commented on one. I did not know the videos were from France till now. Do you know if this car was sold new in France? My records show that only 4 of the 62 Jetfire cars were exported when new. Would it be possible to get a picture of the cowl tag. It looks like this. It is great that you are restoring it…[Read more]

Welcome to the Jetfire forum. Would it be possible for you to post pictures of your car? We love pictures.

Very nice! When you get a chance and if you don’t mind, we would love to see more pictures and maybe one of the cowl tag. We started a collection of cowl tag information. Jim Noel, here on this site, rebuilds the turbo, carburetor and fluid injection setups for these cars if you find you need that.

I have enough material left that I may make another set just to put away. I am actually going to cut a couple wide strips and pinch between the tank and trunk pan also. Not original but it helps for sound deadening.

I will send you an email and some pictures. Can you tell us more about your car? Is it 62 or 63? Would love to see pictures of it. How long have you had it? Sounds like you have been into the model for a while.

I cut out new splash shields for the car. Two of the originals are still nice and soft. I may just clean those and reuse them. Either way. I have new ones now if I need them

Are you needing it for the Jetfire carburetor I assume? If so, I have some that are NOS from another model that I modify and work perfect in our cars. These are old NOS stock and are the good leather style. With me buying it and the time of modifying it I would need $55 shipped for it. I know it is expensive but I have time and money invested…[Read more]

That is the 3rd 63 that I have seen that had that mesh wired onto the radiator. The 4 speed 63 I drug out of the barn in Iowa had the same material on it. I wonder if this was an era thing that people did or if it is something Oldsmobile was doing. I know it is not from the factory this way strange how three of these cars I know of were found like…[Read more]

You will likely find that you need to remove the emblems to get it really clean in that spot. The factory used a sealer around the emblem and trim holes to keep water out of the trunk. After all these years I find that it has oozed out from under the emblem. I pull them out and clean them up and use new sealer on all the studs. Not sure what the…[Read more]

The original tape is 1 inch but I used 1 1/4. I can’t find any that is the same thickness as original so I like the 1 1/4 so I can overlap it extra each turn. I overlap it a little over half the width of the tape. If you overlap it enough you can’t tell it is wider tape and at the same time, it adds to the thickness and protection.

Thanks for posting here. From the pictures I have seen, you are doing a great job with the car. I completely understand when people want to modify cars and restomod cars. It is a fun section of the car hobby on certain cars. That said, I feel you made the right decision for your Jetfire. The rarity of them and lack of peoples knowledge of them…[Read more]

Wire harness tape has no adhesive on it. It just stretches into place as you wrap it around the wiring. It clings to itself well when it is slightly stretched. The difficult part is tying it off when you get to the end. This video helps.
and this video is super cool to watch.…[Read more]
