Look at the posting on Feb 26 2016., Jetfire Windshield Replacement. You should be able to do a search for the posting in the search box at the bottom of this page.
It should answer all your questions with a PN and a supplier-Pilkington if you are back east looks good. Check around, prices vary quite a bit.

There is a problem with that part from Oldbuickparts, looked at ebay and that’s the seller. I think they are the only reproducer of the part and sell to several other parts suppliers to our market. See my post above. They sell the stock bearing with an OD of 2.440″. Their repro carrier has an ID of 2.450-2.460″ per the one from them I have and per…[Read more]

OOPs, tried the bearing in the Center Support Collar and it is a loose fit. It should be a press in fit. You can actually move the bearing slightly within the collar. Called Old Buick Parts and they agreed the ones in stock are the same, they will now investigate why. Bought both the bearing and the collar from them thinking that would ensure they…[Read more]

Took my driveshaft down to have rebuilt and the shop tells me the center “CV” joint is bad and they cannot get a rebuild kit for it anymore. This is not just the ujoints but the slip yoke part that have the spline as the extension that fits into the front shaft. They can rebuild/remake it with later parts at a high price but he suggested I look for…[Read more]

Whichever of these trans you go with I think you’ll enjoy the change.
When compared with the 700R4,4L60, and 2004R we went with the 200C as it is much lighter, smaller, takes less horsepower, has all the interfacing benefits you describe above, requires significantly less tunnel mods(which we heavily weighted), and will work with the stock…[Read more]

Here’s a pic of the TH200c attached to my eng. It’s almost ready to go in. Much smaller and shorter case than the 2004R. Was able to push out the tunnel to provide enough room. Top pic with eng and trans installed with the TV/kickdown bracket and cable mounted to an Edelbrock 1403.

(There is a discussion on driveshaft shortening and 1pc vs. 2 pc shafts from July 4 2015 that may be of interest to you. The Post is titled 62 Cutlass Flywheel Lightening but it moves into driveshaft shortening and two different methods.)
Currently we are going to keep the 2 pc shaft at this point. We have set the angle of the eng/transmission to…[Read more]

Are you using the overdrive 200R4 or the 3 spd 200C Metric? The 200R4 is quite a bit larger than the 200C Metric. There is a lot more tunnel clearancing with the R4. I think someone here has done that conversion.

I don’t believe slight mod does explains all the changes you will have to do. Certainly doable and desirable but a lot of work and fabrication, the bell housing adapter is only the beginning. We are doing a smaller conversion to a TH-200C, 3 spd with lock up converter, and it has been a lot of work and we are not done yet. I think there are a few…[Read more]

Here’s a picture of the original clip for the windshield trim next to and then propped up on the pen, it is not available. The replacement clip supplied by jeff@restorationspecialties.com was similar and worked per the body guy. We believe that PN was 8184-CLP but we had several items ordered at that time and I am not positive. You…[Read more]

Sorry, I’ve got the info available but haven’t been able to get it from the person yet. Coming soon, hopefully tomorrow. Don’t know offhand about the rear window trim, will need to look at the car which is at body shop. Someone here will know.
You are talking about a Jetfire??

So I got the bracket and it bolts up to the same front cover holes as the generator bracket with the extended part of the bracket slipping over the extended lower front head bolt that the ground strap attaches to. One piece, very solid bracket. There must either be a late and early bracket or the seller was right and there are two brackets…[Read more]

Thanks Joe. Here’s a couple of better pics of the bracket I have on the way to me. I hope it bolts up to the 62 exh manifold. Wonder if the 63 manifold is any different? Any 63s out there can give me some feedback?

Restoration Specialties supplied some windshield molding clips for a 62 Jetfire for us. They were not exactly the same as the old ones but very close. The body shop was happy and said they would work fine. I believe we talked with Jeff. I’ll check and see if we still have the pic and PN for you. Not sure on rear window trim status.

Hi all,
Hoping to confirm if the bracket in the picture I posted is correct. It is different than the one in the ebay posting. The picture I posted looks like the same as the bracket in kid442 63 restoration but I am not sure. Joe, is the one in the picture I posted the same as yours? Gotta confirm a purchase and I hoping to have confirmation from…[Read more] -

The pic in the Kid442 63 resto thread is a little dark but I think this one looks just like the one on the restored eng pics. Any 2nd strut on that one?
