Where is everyone getting their decals from? Like the ones on the oil fill cap, round generator red F terminal, and radiator hold down decal?

I ended up using two generators to restore my original. My original one was beat up really bad with lots of broken parts. I decided to use another Jetfire generator and use all the guts out of it so I could keep my original date coded tag and case. I had thought that even the case with the tag was junk but then looked a little closer and decided…[Read more]

When comparing a repainted part to my wife’s original paint car it looks like a good match. I got a color sample from Kolor Korect and my body guy also matched it to an original chip. Both come up with this exact color. Supposedly the original paint had this much metallic in it but you can’t hardly see it now without looking really close. Her car…[Read more]

I went out to the body guys house today and put a temporary rear end and front end in the car just to get it home. I felt bad putting nasty used suspension on the car even though it is only to transport it home. I will not bring the shell home till later this week or Saturday. I have to figure out where to put the hood and fenders because I will…[Read more]

I have been scrubbing and organizing the garage last weekend and all week. I have to much junk! Today I scrubbed the floors really good. Tomorrow morning I have a little more to do and it will be ready for the car to come home. The garage has not been this clean since I started putting my W-30 together in 2014.

I am going to the body guys house…[Read more]

Spent most of the day cleaning up the garage getting ready to bring the body home. Decided to take a brake and disassemble the generator. This is not the original generator but it is a 62 Jetfire generator. I don’t know what the difference is but the Jetfire generator is specific to the Jetfire. This one does not have the correct pulley on it but…[Read more]

jensenracing77 replied to the topic Bucket seat sliders cross over in the forum Discussion Topics – Ask the Experts 5 years, 10 months ago

Turns out that I do not have the correct seat tracks. The last Jetfire I picked up I knew did not have the original seats but they were the original style. Well, whatever they took them out of was no a 61-63 f-85 or Buick because the tracks are completely different.

I may have a set. You are talking about the seat tracks I believe?

That is the correct block also and has a 303 date code so that also fits the car. This is a really special car to be documented that well and so original. One interesting observation, It does not have the external depressurization valve so not sure if the recall was ever done on it but at the same time, The screw is missing in the carburetor float…[Read more]

It is not unheard of for Fisher Body to make mistakes on the cowl tags. Not very common to see one but it did happen now and then. Like oaklyss said, the body number fits the build date very well from other cars documented from that plant at that time. I really like this car, I hope it finds a good restoration at some point.

Very cool! Thanks for posting the pictures. It will sure make a nice car to restore or even just get it road worthy and drive like it is.

You will be better off posting it here in the Forum. Please add pictures and tell us about it. Pictures of the cowl tag is also a plus. I know a guy looking for a 63 4 speed with original paint if this happens to fit that….

One of my OCD’s is to not have a single bug of any kind after a restoration. I want to turn the key and go for a drive in a new car. Well, Electric switches are one of the things I have to rebuild because I don’t want a problem from old internal dried out grease. The old grease in them make them not turn or “click” into each notch like they did…[Read more]

In 62, a Cutlass had to have buckets and a 4 bbl carburetor. It does sound like your car was an f-85 with the Cutlass emblems added.

First time I have EVER found one of these NOS. Paid entirely to much for it but such a cool rare part. I am not sure if I can bring myself to put it on my car. I suppose after I have the car dialed in really well I will likely use it.

Looks like they are missing the half moon pieces. Some of this is still nice to have but the half moon pieces I hear are the hardest part to find. The “top hat” style and spring are for 63 but I have a paper that says the early drive shaft can be drilled to this style. The 61-62 has the shallow spring like in this picture.

I tried getting some paint over a year ago with the code for Royal Mist and was not close at all. My body guy tried it when he first started working on it and found the same thing I did. Took him a long time to get it right. Yours looks great!
