jensenracing77 replied to the topic 62 hood grease pencil marking in the forum Discussion Topics – Ask the Experts 5 years, 5 months ago
Just found this 21 marking in grease pencil on the front of the block just below the driver side head. In the 62 inspection book I found engine code 21 is for the manual transmission low compression engine so I assume this is not the engine code. I am guessing it is just some random inspection number that is not in the book. According to it, this…[Read more]

Jim Noel replied to the topic Steele Rubber vent window seals in the forum Discussion Topics – Ask the Experts 5 years, 6 months ago
Hi Eric,
I used Steele vent window repro rubber (38-0082-55) and seal on divider (50-0337-56) for two 1962 Jetfire’s and my 1962 conv’t. All three came out very good. My last replacement was in 2013 and the Steele part number was the same as yours listed here.
You might want to check with Steele to see if they are really correct or maybe marked…[Read more] -

Not quite sure from your description what the fit is like. My vent window fits tight in mine but the rubber is a little high against the door skin. I think mine were stelle rubber but not sure, 2-3 years ago, Convert
Metro might make them too. I’ve used some of their stuff, good tech service too.,

Has anyone used them? I started to replace mine and the new ones are not even close to correct. I have roughly a 1/8 inch gap between the vent window and the new rubber seal. I would have to bend things to get the front side to seal but if I do that then the rear is not going to seal. I checked the part number and I have the correct part. Not sure…[Read more]

Looks great Sandy! Lots of detail time but will really show nice when you are finished.

We also sanded and prepped the inside of the hood for painting. I sprayed the exposed metal and surface rusted area with rust encapsulator too, that product is what makes the exposed metal look black. I was surprised how the original paint was not adhered to the metal very well, lots of it just sanded right off with barely a stroke or two of the…[Read more]

wow, way too long since I last posted. I have been working on a number of niggling issues in the interior.
My sun visors had some bad stains from 50+ years of having a red cardboard document pocket clipped to it. Managed to clean off 95% of the staining. The stitching thread was rotting with age so I re-stitched them both. The headliner cleaned…[Read more] -

People think that I am crazy on this one but I am reusing the original weatherstripping, fuzzy’s, and rubber door sweeps. The weatherstripping is not mint but it is still very nice, the fuzzy’s and rubber sweeps are nearly mint. I can always replace it later if I need to but this original stuff is still nice and pliable. I washed it with dish soap…[Read more]

The original headliner is back in the car! I installed the front to back last night and then stretched the sides this morning. All the hardware screw holes lined back up int he original spots really good.

Thanks. I enjoy building them maybe more than driving them. This car has been more of a challenge to me. I know the 70-72 model really well but had to learn a lot about these cars as I go. Also glad I have so many parts cars to research things.
I finished the dash today. The glove box is the original and was nearly mint. All I have to do is hook…[Read more]

The car looks great Eric! It’s been fun following your pics and narration since you’re so thorough and particular about how it’s going together. Looking forward to a Youtube video of it in action.

Hi Joe,
I saw an old post of yours that you adapted a valve from Napa to replace your orig.
That’s probably my best option.
Do you have a picture of the install and possible a part number?
Thanks
