It has felt good to work on this car again. It has been a while since I could devote very much time on it at one time. This morning I decided to try and attempt to clean the sun visors and headliner. I started out with goop hand cleaner like I did on the vinyl seats and other interior parts. That did not go at all well on the sun visor so decided…[Read more]

Restored the heater box today. The fan motor is a satin gloss and the boxes are gloss. Most of the screws are phosphate but 4 are zinc plated. Installed an NOS heater control valve and re-cored heater core.

The body and paint guy sent me more pictures. He has LED strip lighting and makes the reflection of the lights look like the paint is messed up.

I have no experience with Convertibles. Scott Winn just parted a convertible and was telling me that the seat adjusters were different. He is not here on this forum but he is on the 61-63 f-85 Facebook page. I am not sure if he can help or not?

Thanks Jim. He had me send him pictures of the proper brake between the silver and the body color of the front pan. He already knows about the top of the fuel door and the opening. He also has to paint the little part in the top of the door jamb with interior silver that is between the weatherstripping and the headliner. He had forgot about that…[Read more]

My plans changed tonight so I made it to the body mans house! He was about ready to paint the white top and likely is right now as I type. The paint is VERY close if not perfect to the original color. It is hard to say what the original metallic level was but by the records this is the correct metallic. Can’t see it in the pictures though.

My body guy sent me this picture earlier today. I have not been there since before my wife’s surgery so not sure where he is at with the paint. I hope to go out there this week

jensenracing77 replied to the topic 63 4 speed carb in the forum Discussion Topics – Ask the Experts 5 years, 11 months ago
OK, thought we had someone new. For the most part nothing is different as far as manual goes. In general, for all 62 verses 63 carbs, the 62 has a smaller jet and smaller needle, the 62 has a fresh air port (not vacuum) that hooks to the throttle retarder, the 63 has a “tower” on the float cover that is for the vent. I am assuming that they found…[Read more]

The manual transmission cars have a vacuum port on the carburetor for the vacuum advance on the distributor where the automatic cars did not have this port. The automatic cars vacuum advance hooked to the intake manifold port. They also had a manual choke instead of a automatic choke.

The under hood black I am not sure about. The back hood hinge bolts are correct color but the front on both sides are black. As far as the springs, Both of my cars have painted springs and are original. My trunk lid mounting bolts are painted body color also on both cars. Not sure if there was a difference for 63? The 63 I got out of Iowa was…[Read more]

Looks like a nice 63 Jetfire coming to Indy. He tells me it is original paint and all original. I can see from the pictures that the radiator has been re-cored, the exhaust was replaced and the fluid tank decal replaced but those are minor things. Obviously a few little details have been touched up on the car but looks to be a really nice car.…[Read more]

I never finished the story on my radiator. I had a thin coat of paint on the radiator the day I got it home but it was humid and turned the paint milky. I later painted it again and had a couple cans of engine paint. Turned out that they must have had some paint mixed up on the shelf because one of the cans was interior vinyl paint. I did not…[Read more]

I have not been able to get time to go out to the body guys house. My wife sent me out shopping for groceries today and bumped into a friend of my body guys. He said that it was getting painted the final coat today! I don’t think that counts the white top but not sure. I am sad because I wanted more pictures of his work at his place.

I took detailed pictures of my inspection stampings and also cut some others out from my parts cars. I took them to the local printing store and they are making me rubber stamps so I can duplicate them. The top corner of the O for OK is slightly off for the / style but I am not going to make them redo it. Just need to find the proper shade of yellow now.
