I think you’re right. You can do a MC delete with BCCP if you ask. Just be aware the big GM MC they supply will require significant cutting, some other MCs not so much. But you will need a 1″ bore with the 5 lug kit, I thinks it uses bigger calipers than the 4 lug. There is a really nice Baer Racing MC called the ReMaster that fits really good at…[Read more]

OOPS, hit submit too soon. Here’s a couple of pics of the mounted battery. See the bottom “Z retainer” sitting on top of the bottom battery lug. The other side of the battery has a lug that goes under the “hook” on the other end of the batter tray. That white sticker on the side of the battery says SP 22F D6. And the terminals are on the correct side.

Just to be clear there is no top bracket on my battery tray. See the excerpt from the manual that Jim sent. The top bracket type is Jetfire. My rusty tray is all one piece except for the small bottom side “Z shaped retainer” shown in the drawing.
Took a quick look on line at a group 85 and the pics showed no bottom lugs. To use the type of tray I…[Read more]

They’re just giving that stuff away.
Better check what MC he is supplying cause the one most kits supply will require a lot of cutting of your strut and frame channel. I believe there are discussions here on this and a long discussion on the 6163Skylark forum you should read.
I used a 1980 Ford Fairmont MC at 7/8″ bore, fits nice but I…[Read more]

Yeah, that website has been down for a while now. I know they offered it, I have their conversion for a 4lug and they had a 5 lug conversion at the time and was starting to offer 5 lug rear axles. Looks like they were about $400 cheaper than Kanter. Kanter shows you needing 5 wheels but when I asked sales if the kit comes with new 5 lug hubs…[Read more]

Flowmaster’s give you a little lopey sound all by themselves. I’m going to try some Flowmaster HP2s(Hush Power) soon but don’t know if they have the same effect as standard Flowmaster.
Also, if you go to a stiffer valve spring on a level 2 cam you will get a little more lope than the standard springs and stay with the driveability of the level…[Read more]

Kanter is the most expensive, BCCP also sells a front disc with 5 lug conversion, and I think Scarebird can guide you too if you want to go the put-it-together-yourself route.
Rear axles, call Moser Engineering of Moser Axles. You send them your axle and they make up a copy with 5 lug/as you specify. Not cheap but Moser are good axles, I think…[Read more]

Don’t know of a direct swap over from a disc brake car. Scarbird sells a caliper bracket with instructions-you collect the other parts on the list and do a little machining, BCCP, and Kanter sell a ” turnkey” kit. All of them require a new dual reservoir Master cyl for a disc/drum set up which will require a little to a lot of frame trimming, your…[Read more]

Anyone have a source for or looked at reproducing the rubber bushings for the center bearing crossmember to frame bracket?
Mine are pretty bad and I’d like to replace them with new.
Or at the very least pickup good bushings.
They are rights and lefts. -

62 Cutlass Convert replied to the topic Gas Tank Leak in the forum Discussion Topics – Ask the Experts 8 years, 11 months ago
I have used tank coatings before with great success and great failure. IMO the key to success is a VERY clean tank with ALL the rust removed and a good environment, warm and dry, to do the work. You do not want to end up with flash rust under the coating, which has happened to me, and then stripping the coating is very difficult if not impossible.…[Read more]

Good luck on the sale, looks like lots of fun for someone.
You mention that “She needs a new radiator and I finally found a place that sells a nice aluminum 3core that’s made for this car”,
For the benefit of the group who is the supplier for this radiator?
Thanks

If the ball on the slip joint section is good and you have the other parts that are good and a seat to copy or yours is good enough to copy why not. Don’t know what cost would be compared to a “good” used driveshaft.

Lots of prior discussions on this and related issues. Go to the bottom of this page and see the Search Forum box. Enter “driveshaft” and or try other key words and threads from a bunch of different postings comes up. Click on the number in the upper right hand corner of a thread that looks interesting and you will be taken to that thread.

62 Cutlass Convert replied to the topic Wider tire size options in the forum Discussion Topics – Ask the Experts 9 years ago
My stock 13″ wheels are a 4.5″ wide wheel. IMO that’s too narrow for a 195 on up treadwidth. You’ll get a lot of “roll” of the tire and corner on the sidewall if you push it.
Due to lack of availability of good modern tires in the 13″ or 14″ wheel sizes I went to a 15×6 4 lug wheel from Wheel Vintiques and a 205/65/15 tire. Not too big so still…[Read more] - Load More
