I’d like to drop a crossflow alum radiator in without paying $700 for a custom Griffin.Summit has a univ fit griffin at 24wx16h for $173 which looks pretty good and a Griffin with trans cooler that shows dim at 26wx15.5H at $330 but I’m afraid it might be too tight a fit.
Has anyone done this and what did you use?
Thanks for the help.

Options list I have shows 1961-62 option S1 or ’63 option G80 for Anti-spin Differential. Shows $43.04 price with no note as “std on Jetfire” as do some other options. We have 2 Jetfires and I do not believe either has posi.

Not sure if 15″ stock wheels will fit. I will be using 15 x 6 Wheel Vintique “Smoothies” I purchased some time ago. Ben at BCCP may be able to tell you. I know he has a mock up 61-63 F85 susp he works with to develop his kits.

Thanks. Forgot to include the pict of the MC and prop valve together. No cutting of the 45 degree strut necessary with this MC, only the new notch just forward of the factory notch in the unibody frame flange.
I would think Scarebird would be good too. I believe they use the same components as BCCP except for the bracket. I think Scarbird is a…[Read more]

I see an earlier post on exhaust, anything there?
A warped/leaky exhaust manifold can chirp.

I have installed a front disc brake conversion on my convertible. Included some picts. Kit is from BCCP-Bens Classic Car Parts, and is turnkey at the axle. Not cheap but should be good. The MC is a 1980 Fairmont which I bought seperate/had to clearance the frame very slightly-see pic, I had to fab the supply lines from the MC to the prop valve…[Read more]

I bought one a while ago for my 62 and I think it was from Kanter Bro, if not them then Fusick. I think 62 and 63 are the same. They are avail.

I have a friend who also has a lot of parts, no complete unit. Can put you in contact if needed. Similar situation to Jensen-no fluid tanks, or intake, or exhaust. has a waste-gate, turbos, carb, and more, all needs rebuild/refurb.

I think M&H Electrical Fabricators (the repro wiring harness people) have a conversion pigtail too.

I know D&D has wiring and alternators. Keeping my gen for now but don’t think it’s much to change. Probably a std alternator, diff brkt, and a wiring pigtail. Someone here has done it for sure or check the classicoldsforum

BTW the machine shop is happy with the flexplate and thinks this is the way to go. If they would just finish the eng now!
We are doing 2 cars with this conversion and had planned to shorten the front shaft. But sounds like you have some practical experience here that we can learn from.
The TH200 does appear to be significantly shorter than the…[Read more]

To both points what seems to be very important is that shaft angles are as equal as possible at each end and that some angle is needed for the ujoints to function properly-straight at each other is not desirable. So, for example, if the front Dvshft angle at tranny is down 2 degrees the back should be up 2 degrees creating two theoretical lines…[Read more]

So are you saying to move the center support back, leave the front shaft alone, and shorten the shaft from the center support to the diff? While trying to keep the angle down from the center support and up from the diff the same, doesn’t the “CV” joint setup at the center support help out with a off angle with the diff?

Well, sorta. We’ve mocked up a stripped TH200 with a bare block and a D&D spacer, modified the orig crossmember mt a little/flipped the side brkts over/elongated the frame holes/ and moved it up one hole in the frame-I guess to the manual trans bolt holes, bolted it up with mtr mounts, pushed out the tunnel a little with porta-power/heat/hammer to…[Read more]

Yep, 61 is the main manual and 62 supplement has various 62 updates including coverage of the convertible which is essential for your car. I have an original 61 shop manual which has nice color wiring schematics and good clear pics and is commonly available. We have a new 62 repro supplement which is not nearly as nice with the binding already…[Read more]

Oops, that first listing is a ’63. You probably know but bumpers are the same for base F85, Cutlass, Jetfire although not sure if base has the bottom trim pieces.

There is an older add in the classifieds for a guy parting out a car that lists bumpers. Try DVAP-Desert Valley Auto Parts on line. Also, I bought some brake parts 2-3 months back from someone in Missouri that was parting out cars, think they were all 63s but I’ll see if I can find his contact info.
