Thanks for the info and the new pic, looks good. I have another post where I am looking for the center driveshaft bearing carrier collar. Did you find a new one or use the old?

Hi 63,
I have a 62 convert that will be needing exhaust as soon as I get the engine back. Your set up looks like what I want to do. I am working to get a TH200 in it and am using the stock rear trans mt crossmember with some minor mods which lowers it a little. Looks like you are going under that mount. Is your mount in the stock position and…[Read more]

I have a 62 Cutlass Convertible and am looking for a new Driveshaft bearing support-the rubber/metal piece that holds the center bearing inside the sheet metal bracket. Ordered one from Old Buick Parts/Cars,Inc but they are out with no idea when they will get them in. Anyone know another vendor?
Thanks

Hi, Congratulations. I’ working on bringing up a 62 myself. I think the center hood trim is standard for the Cutlass trim. We have 2 Cutlass converts and it’s on both. Both also have the cutlass center console. The original HD cooling option had a 4 row cross flow. D&D Fabrication is talking about bringing a cross flow alum rad to market which will…[Read more]

Thanks for the link. Who would think you could cram tires that big up there, especially with a drop like that. I ordered some Eaton Detroit Spring 1″ drop springs. Gonna check it out and if I want to I’ll either exchange or cut for another 1″. I think the 205x65x15 tires will work on 15×6 Wheel Vintique Smoothie rims and I’ll put disc brakes up front.

Thanks for the reply. I’ll just plan to keep my elbows in control. As long as the gears aren’t worn too much it should be good on the road.
Happy new year

Thanks for the info. So did you lower it with shorter springs and how much did you lower? Also, what size tire are you running?

Thanks for the feedback. I too like the manual steering, especially vs. the old over boosted pwr boxes. I do have a local rebuilder that will freshen it up if needed. Hope the gears are tight.

I have a 62 Convertible with the original manual steering. Never driven this one or any other 61-63 F85 with manual steering and I am wondering what it is like. I have a 64 Chevelle that had a manual box (now a 12:1 AGR power box) and it was quite heavy in a tight turnaround back and fill situation at 6.5 turns lock to lock. Hoping the lighter…[Read more]

I recently joined the site and have been viewing the classifieds. I see that some of the post dates are old. Are the ads deleted once the item is purchased or do the ads remain regardless of status?
Thanks

I picked up a pair of NOS side mounts on Ebay also. However, you need to be aware that 61’s are different from 62’s, both the PN, appearance, and I believe the fit. I haven’t tried the ones I got, they are 61’s, but in communicating on a thread on Classic Olds Forum with another member who was fitting the 61’s to a 62 car it appeared that while…[Read more]

I have a 62 F85 Cutlass Convertible. It sat for 40 years on the susp in storage and I will be replacing springs and shocks. I have never had the car on the road and don’t really know where it rides on standard springs . The only spring offered by anyone is the standard springs with no HD option other than the rear station wagon springs which are…[Read more]
