Just figured out the difference between the 62 and 63 fluid bottle holder. There is two different part numbers for them and both mount different. Here is a picture of the legs that allow for the 63 to mount on the curved fender verses the 62 that mounts on the flat brace.

Found that both of my backing plates for the rear brakes have a yellow dab of paint on them. Not sure what they are for other than likely some kind of inspection marker.

Got the rear end and brakes apart today. Here is a video of how I remove the bushings. After the rubber removal I just crush the shell and they almost fall out.

He is almost done patching the rust spots. He has one more to do and then on to the next phase. After tomorrow he will not be working on the car for at least two weeks. He has 78 hours in it so far.

Now that I have the rear end back I am pulling it apart and the control arms apart to get them ready for the sand blaster.

jensenracing77 replied to the topic Sway Bar Observation in the forum Discussion Topics – Ask the Experts 6 years, 3 months ago

I have the bushings for the 13/16 bar that are the correct thing and even an NOS set but the hole is to small in them to run the 15/16 bar from the 63 Jetfire. I will likely just cut the hole larger in the repop set I have and save the NOS set for the original bar when and if I decide to put it back on the car. I would rather find the correct…[Read more]

The ones I took off of my 63 Jetfire parts car look just like the bushings for the small bar only with a bigger hole. The 1963 parts book is not even clear on these bushings. I even compared it to the 70 Cutlass style but that bushing is much bigger and will not fit the bracket. I suppose it may be easier to cut the outside of those down easier…[Read more]

Anyone know where to get the sway bar bushings for our cars and a 15/16 bar? I am starting to think I will have to bore the 13/16 bushings larger.

A while back my body guy said if he is not done by April it will be next winter before he can finish it. Well, he is working on my car full time right now so if he don’t quit on it I could see it being done by late December. I am not holding my breath either way. He said he didn’t think he would have more than 200 hours in it before he started so…[Read more]

After it was cleaned up I am sure that is correct. I want to believe that is how they done it for all of them. I know it is this way for the 70-72 cars also

I didn’t know the body guy started on it yet but he called today and said to come over. The bottom side is MUCH better than I expected. The pitting is not even that bad. We have decided to not use a bed liner and will use a thick epoxy primer and paint it. He also has patched the lower right quarter. He hand formed the patches and look really…[Read more]

The transmission is done. The shifter parts were zinc plated and is only loosely mounted. I am waiting on more parts for it and going to have to have a new shaft made for it.

Not likely anyone here is using an exhaust gas vacuum in your garage but I found this interesting. At one time I was trying to spin a turbo with a vacuum cleaner and it sucked lots of oil into the turbine housing so I know it can happen.

A local place has wanted me to try them for zinc plating for a long time. I decided to try them on this project and most everything turned out really good. There are a couple pieces I am going to take back to them in my next batch of parts but overall everything will work as it is.

This is what it looked like this morning when I took it out of the tub. Will still have to bead blast it but will be much easier to do now that the tight crusty stuff all come off. It is beside the back section of the same shaft for comparison. Also, this is what the tub looked like when I took it out.

I pulled the two halves of the drive shaft apart today. I found the original stripe still visible. I was not sure this was the original drive shaft but now I want to believe it is. If it was a replacement, it would not have had a paint stripe. The stripe is on the front section and the back section is what is different than most Jetfire cars so…[Read more]

I had a couple people ask for me to put them down on my list while at Homecoming and I sure can’t find that note for who they were. If you had me set one aside for you then let me know.
