I bought new hood insulation from Fusick and used the punch outs to match my original pad. It has the small extra cut out next to the air cleaner (right of the large cut out opening), is this 63 only?

My original radiator core has this tag on it and the numbers match the 63 assembly manual. I need to have it rebuilt and put the original side tanks back on it. The radiator shop told me I needed a new core, but this one looks fine.

Thanks for posting Sandy. Do you know what city the car was found in? What dealer was it originally purchased from when new?

I bought another rebuilt starter and looked inside it. It has the helper spring behind the Bendix drive that Both my starters were missing. Installed the new starter and motor fired right up. Both starters worked fine before the rebuild. I can only think the extra compression with the rebuild was just enough to overcome the starters. Now to break…[Read more]

I have checked everything and can’t figure out why my starter is jamming on the flywheel. I have 2 starters and they both do it. New Bendix drive didn’t matter. Ring gear looks good. It’s like the starter is too close to the flywheel. I have tried shims to change the angle and depths but still no change. I ground out the starter head to be able…[Read more]

I am ready to start the motor, but the starter pinion is getting stuck on the flywheel. Nothing has changed, same starter as before, only surfaced the flywheel. Very strange, took off the solenoid and tried sliding the Bendix in and out by hand. Very hard. I am replacing the Bendix drive.

Sandy my name is Greg. Thanks for posting those, that underside is incredible! Very clean. The cut out has lots of sharp edges like my car. Consider starting a new thread showing photos of your car. We are really starting to document these cars and how they were built. But instead of having thousands of examples to learn from, we only have a…[Read more]

Greytoad, how was the transmission tunnel cut for your 4 speed tunnel unit? Was it torch or power shears, or if you don’t know, can you post a photo of the tunnel from underneath? Mine was cut with power shears and has sharp edges. Eric’s 62 was cut with a torch.

Progress photos. I used a 1/2” crows foot with a universal joint on top of it to tighten the rear flange bolt.

I built the motor this weekend, just need the rear cam plug, it’s 1-51/64” hard to find. Egge usually has them, but I ordered two from T/A Performance. Then I can put the motor in and get it running.
