I wondered about that myself. We have the two 62 Cutlass converts and one has this pump with a return line and the other the pump with the attached filter bowl and no return line. The one with the return line is a later 62. Sounds like a good set up.

Here a faint driver side fender marking. Grease pencil is gone seems to have left a rust image, maybe it was before paint? Marking is VV I think for the red color and matching wheel color with a number above it.

Just finished doing all the fabrication to set up a HD cooling system in my Cutlass without having any of the F85 HD cooling components so went to available new stuff. Set up is as described earlier in this thread with 26×16.5″ crossflow 209567B (actual size was 25.75″) alum rad blank set up by Northern Factory with original style in and…[Read more]

Great-That is the pump and hub we have on the Jetfires. Yeah, both the A/C car and the non A/C car have the clutch. I am going to the D&D pulley on the Cutlass since I don’t have any of the HD cooling setup. I agree getting the short pump and pressing on the big hub shouldn’t be an issue. Concern is the old clutch which we need to go with if using…[Read more]

They were really doing things individually back then. I agree, much better for cruising. So if you don’t have a fan clutch you probably have a long water pump. My Cutlass had a downflow rad with no clutch and a 4 bladed fan. Both the Jetfires with fan clutches have a 7 blade 18″ fan and the very short clutch and the short pulley for the big hub.…[Read more]

Appreciate your feedback. One of the Jetfires is a Non-A/C car and one is an A/C car both with the fan clutch and big hub pump. Without further info it appears to be the same set up if you have the HD cooling package with the crossflow rad A/C or not.
The shaft on the WP is the same regardless of HUB size so we can work out getting a pump rebuilt…[Read more]

62 Cutlass Convert replied to the topic Jetfire HD Cooling System Rebuild? in the forum Discussion Topics – Ask the Experts 10 years ago
Thank you for the response. All parts are original and matching. Waterpump cannot be rebuilt due to corrosion but we could use the big hub on it and have a pump built with it. Problem is we would like to put a new fan clutch on it and as far as I know originals are not available. The WP hub and pulley will not interface with a new fan clutch that…[Read more]

What are you HD cooling system people doing about the water pump, pulley, and fan clutch on the HD cooling system? Our 2 cars have short pumps with oversize hubs with an oversize bolt pattern, a short pulley with pilot hole for the oversize hub and oversize bolt pattern, and a very short thermal fan clutch that I haven’t been able to find…[Read more]

62 Cutlass Convert replied to the topic 15 inch wheel option? in the forum Discussion Topics – Ask the Experts 10 years, 2 months ago
I have attached the “1961-63 F85 car and option prices” list I downloaded from somewhere a while ago. See Pg 3 for the wheel tire options you mention above. If you know your option, car type, and certain specific options like AC it tells you if it was whitewall or blackwall and wheel size. Doesn’t go into how wide the sidewalls. When I think back…[Read more]

Very nice. Beautiful compartment. The 62 Jetfire resto the shop is working on is coming back from paint in not too long and that engine provides incentive!

Finally have the sway bar installed. Addco made a larger anchor plate for me with one side extended out to 7.5 inches to form a trapezoid so I could fully extend across the bottom of the trailing arm. Be easy to make one. I trimmed it to fit. I also asked them to not drill mounting holes for the trailing arm and I used existing holes-a 1/2 inch…[Read more]

Converted the rear drums to self adjusting with a ’63 self adjusting rebuild kit, Carlson and Rayestos are available and evidently cross to another year, which has all the parts to make the brakes self adjusting. Buy a 63 spring kit, file the head of the top spring “perch” pin a little to allow more room for the spring and the thicker self…[Read more]
