    Hi Pere,
Yes, tour new Jetfire looks great in the pictures! I see that it has the same power steering option as mine too. They appear to be twins from the Lansing factory.
Your engine heads (S 050316) are for a 1961 F-85, 2 barrel Rochester carburetor with low compression of 8.75 to 1. The 1961 heads have numbers that started with S 001001, the…[Read more]

    Hi Pere,
Great find! Not easy to find a Jetfire in Europe! Your new Jetfire was made one week before mine and is the same color with a white vinyl top and silver/gray interior. It was made 169 Jetfire’s before mine. I had to look in my garage to be sure mine was still there! lol
Please post a picture of the engine, under the hood.
    Thanks for the news, Jim

Jim Noel replied to the topic 215 v8 Balancers in the forum Discussion Topics – Ask the Experts 6 years, 1 month ago

I have had three Jetfire harmonic balancers restored by the Dampner Doctor in CA. They have all been returned with the timing mark correct. As I recall, they need your correct core and restore and return. My last 1962 Jetfire balancer was from an engine that was never taken apart and was original from the factory. Not inexpensive but they do a…[Read more]

I do not know about the 1963 Jetfire hood insulation size. I have just assumed it is the same as the 1962 Jetfire. Someone on our website that also owns a 63 might be able to help you?

The small cutout in the front of the hood insulator is to allow clearance for the Turbo Rocket Fluid tank cap. This should be cutout on all 1962 and 1963 Jetfire’s.

    Hello Pere,
I do restore complete turbocharged induction systems for 1962 and 1963 Jetfire cars. I do not sell a kit or any of the parts used and needed for a Jetfire turbocharger system restoration. I do not know of anyone else offering this service for a Jetfire.

Your 1962 Jetfire was produced the (05E) fifth week of May, 1962, in the Lansing, Michigan factory and was the 991st Jetfire produced in this factory in 1962. Your paint code (C C) is for Provincial white body and Provincial white top with black tire rims. Your interior color is code (975) Red so your video shows the car colors to be original.…[Read more]

Thanks for the translation MAC 85. No, I do not speak or read French.
I have not decided if I want to get involved with shipments outside the USA. Have already had one bad experience with customs! Completely trashed a turbo system, Must have been looking for some sort of contraband.

Dan LaGrou of D & D Fabrications has published information on beefing up a 215. Attached is a brief write up from his 2001 catalog. This catalog covers considerable information on component combinations to increase c.i.d.

    Hi Joe,
I also miss the ‘in site’ search function but your work around with Google search works! I will have to use it a few times to get the hang of it. Thanks for the GREAT tip!

Jim Noel replied to the topic Slapping,Flapping, New Convertible Top in the forum Discussion Topics – Ask the Experts 6 years, 3 months ago

Yes, there are circumstances where a convertible top will make strange noises while driving and the top is up.
I have found that if the back window is closed (zipped up) and air is allowed to enter the inside of the car, either through the pull cable vents or the heater controls, and pressure builds up inside the car. This internal pressure…[Read more]

Does anyone know the company that offers re-manufactured seat covers for the 1963 Jetfire/Cutlass seats? I have seen them offered for sale but can’t remember the company that offers them.

Jim Noel replied to the topic 215 Manual transmission flywheel in the forum Discussion Topics – Ask the Experts 6 years, 4 months ago

    Fred,
There is a lot of different flywheels, all for 1961-63 F-85’s. They very in weight from ~20# to 34# depending on the application. Once you find a suitable flywheel you will then need a clutch disk and pressure plate to match, not easy to find either. Attached is a list from the parts manual and some weight/application data. D&D might seam…[Read more]

Contact D&D, good possibility they will have one. Two different flywheels-9-1/2″ or 10″. All Jetfire cars use 10″. Most other F-85’s use a 9-1/2″.

Jim Noel replied to the topic Restoration of our 62 4 speed Jetfire in the forum Discussion Topics – Ask the Experts 6 years, 5 months ago

A replacement can be made from a piece of pig skin or leather. It looks like you have the rectangle wire with the fingers to hold it to the bell housing, that is good! The clip that holds the material to the fork, if lost, could be fabricated too. Pics of the leather one I made, however, I had the wire frame and fork clip.

Good deal Greg! It also appears that you have the three finger style pressure plate. If you have intentions to replace the pressure plate, I recommend that you have the three finger one rebuilt. Current day replacements are the diaphragm style and are not as good! Be sure that all spring locations have springs. (non-Jetfire pressure plates only…[Read more]
