So Eric, is 1 1/4″ the correct width for our cars? I was on A.A.W’s site and they only show that size. That other video from Lectric Limited said there was various widths depending on car etc.

I have been encouraged to post a thread about my 63 Jetfire and its preservation/restoration. I am not sure what to call what we are doing: we are not truly restoring it: we are just ‘fixing it up’ and getting it back on the road after sitting in a drive in shed of the original owner in California for 33 years! Usually when we restore a car we…[Read more]

Hey Eric, looks like you are doing a super job. I have never restored a car to ‘concours’ quality and our 63 will not be truly concours either but I will be closer than any car we have done in the past and I will do what I can to have it appear as correct as I can. I am wondering where you get the ‘proper’ type of harness tapes? You said…[Read more]

It is great this forum exists. place to post questions and find things out. Not sure if it could get updated so there is a search function. So grateful this is here.
I still have not figured out how to post to the ‘articles’ spot although I suppose I could include that in a forum post but when ‘telling a story’ I tend to ‘talk too much’ but…[Read more]

Yes I plan on starting a thread here Greg. I wish this forum was more user friendly and we could search topics etc

We were very busy between working on the car, posting on the Oldsmobile Jetfire face book page, my face book page, winterizing our other old cars, winterizing our homes grounds, leaves and gardens, 4 grand kids etc. We just got…[Read more]

Oaklyss, Mine appears to be shears cut. Here are a few photos……..

What do you mean by a “!/2″ crows foot” ? Not a term I am privy to in Canada!

Took a fine brass brush to that spot: C- 3. So Eric, that means it was built January 3rd then with 3.36 gears. That certainly is an acceptable date for a car that was built the 3rd week of January.

I think it is odd that your car is black under the hood but mine is body color (white) yet they were built in the same plant one week apart. I wonder if ‘they’ deemed that the rose color would look ‘nasty’ in the engine bay or if it was more of ‘the call’ of the guy with the paint gun. Wondering ‘when’ the bay was actually painted – was it the…[Read more]

Have not checked that Oaklyss, but I will. I need a list of where all these numbers and marks are so I don’t scrub the marks off ……… I have never had a car that I have cared about the numbers before but this car is different. I tend to stumble across numbers: we are still cleaning etc – this one was hard to miss! Body number 732. So is this…[Read more]

So we are still working on cleaning up the 63 Jetfire. Today we were cleaned up the underside and when it was dry enough so I wouldn’t get dripped on – I took some photos. Check out this huge paint code mark on the differential housing. The car was built on the 3rd week of January at the South Gate California plant.

SO my car does not have a shifter fork boot. Apparently there was a chunk of one with the clip around the narrow part but no lower section nor a clip frame for around Housing. I guess I will make one. Does anyone have photo of the frame cage that is used to clip it to the opening?

The 2020 Nationals is July 28th to August 2nd. We plan on attending this reminds me that I need to book the hotel! IF the Jetfire is done we will bring that on a trailer as it will not be proven/driven enough yet to trust it on a trip that far. If it is not, then we will likely drive the 61 Fiesta Wagon there. Anyone book their hotel yet. I…[Read more]

Been reading your story here. I have been wondering how many 63 4 speed cars are still out there and on the road. We just purchased an original, rust free survivor 4 speed out of California that was recovered by Sierra Auto Restoration that had been in storage for 33 years: & I managed to sweet talk them into selling it to me as is. Anyway:…[Read more]
