Eric, how did you get the glass out without cutting the gasket? Steel Rubber has the gaskets but I don’t know how good they are. Does the window trim come out with the window and gasket? Or did you remove the trim first? I would guess Ebay is the best source for the clips but you have to know what other GM car would use them to help widen the search.

Look it up on Ebay. This was the Red Jetfire, black vinyl top, Silver interior that Fred bought from a junk yard in CA. and was discussed on this site. No turbo. I looked hard at it in 2016 at Fred’s house to try to save it, but passed on it as too far gone to restore to original. He had already chopped the A arms for the wheels to fit but the r…[Read more]

Looks like a great showing, but I only count 7 Jetfires?
How do the Olds people react to Jetfires? Is interest gaining? -

That little red light to the left of that light switch is a parking brake light. Good to have as it is lit when the parking brake is on. My last 63 had both of those options.

Greg Oakley replied to the topic Rubber Foot Flange Gasket Needed!! in the forum Discussion Topics – Ask the Experts 6 years, 9 months ago
Ken, is there a crack in the middle between the flanges? That’s where they usually crack. As we all know, never use silicone sealant where gas is in contact with it because gasoline dissolves silicon sealant.
There is a sealant called “Motoseal” that is like silicon and works great on these gaskets, even if they are cracked. Just coat the entir…[Read more] -

Greg Oakley replied to the topic Vent window rubber weatherstripping in the forum Discussion Topics – Ask the Experts 7 years ago
You don’t need to drill out the pivot rivet, it’s much easier to drill the 2 rivets that hold that bracket to the frame, they are under the old weather strip so they don’t show. Then just use pop rivets to secure back on. Just make sure its aligned correctly.

There should only be real Jetfires in the design, otherwise it will confuse people about these cars and how they were made

Greg Oakley replied to the topic What is wrong with this car? in the forum Discussion Topics – Ask the Experts 7 years, 4 months ago
I think the Ad is too lacking in information about the car. It says rust in the rear quarter and very little else. Not a lot of photos to inspire confidence in the car.

No, not too hard with the turbo off, there are 2 screws at the bottom of the heater core box, one has the brake line support.

Wow floors look really nice. You have to take both heater boxes off. They will be stuck on really good.
It can be done with the motor in place but difficult. Turbo needs to come off. -

Eric,
I’ll take the center diff section and drain plug with tag from the limited slip rear. That thing looks like it was in a lake! I hope the diff is good.
Also. when you have time to list all the NOS stuff I’ll look through it. My friend Lee lives on the next street over from me and he bought Phil’s 62 Jetfire that he is restoring and he needs…[Read more] - Load More
